lala lalala:

they f*ckin ROCK!...a lot.

I just came back from their sold out IP show in NYC. It was *goodtastic*! They played the hits (Buddy Holly, Sweater Song, Suzanne, etc) but also showed us some new stuff. Energy was great- crowd LOVES em, and they reciprocate. Some call it geek rock, others call it emo, indie rock or heh, *alternative*....call it what you will...but dude, just go buy the Blue Cd with the boys on the front. like, NOW.

elizabeth:

wow

lucky! i wanted to see them in NY! well all I can really say is that the self titled album (aka "the blue album") is one of the best of all time.

quinn with glitter socks:

neeto super rad geek rock forever!!

they were playing in seattle the day after i left. it would be so awesome to see them in concert. anyway, s/t and pinkerton are two of the best cds i own.

LM:

Rivers, where are you?

"Tired of Sex" rocks.

chris q murphy:

i remember high school...

their first album was a big one for me.... melodic loud stuff... get both albums... THIS huge fan doubts a third album due to front man rivers cuomos's control issue of mccartneyesque prportions.... but - they still rule!!!

Manda Heim:

just plain cool

weezer is the best surf music ever. they're cool and their songs are really catchy.....get the album that's blue..i don't know the name, but it rocks :-)

Kat Kunz:

fun, catchy rawk music

i've had the s/t album in my car all week (not exactly by choice--i kept forgetting to bring any other cds out to the garage--but it wasn't a *bad* thing, to be sure), so i figured i'd jump on the recommendation bandwagon. first heard "buddy holly" on the radio ages ago, then had about half the blue album on a mix tape a friend made a couple years ago. finally bought their 1st cd in march. *heh* but it's good! i've heard the second one isn't nearly as strong, though, so be forewarned in your selections.

Kate in Vermont:

pinkerton

the second album, pinkerton, rocks as much as the blue album; you just kinda have to get used to them first! get the blue album, learn to love it, then get pinkerton. you won't be disappointed :). as for the "rivers mccartney" holding up a new album stuff, when i saw them in boston he said they're coming out w/a new one... hopefully next spring?

olga:

geek rock galore

onlythe most amazing band in the universe...well one of them anyways..

Wise Owl:

Rivers is my idol

Contrary to what many say, I found pinkerton to have matured a lot from the Blue album. Blue was more fun and games when they were young and pumped from their new record deal, but pinkerton is when the band settled down and got serious. The lyrics are much more deep and insightful.

None:

Rivers Rawks my world

Weezer is not only sexy but they have great music. I really enjoyed their latest Music Video, Hash Pipe. I recommend it for all your Weezer fans out there!

Jenn:

alternative/geekish rock band

:) He really does look like Buddy Holly!!!!

frukid:

loud, goofy- intelligent rock = WEEZER!!!

I've loved Weezer since I was in Jr High and I'm glad they are back in the swing. I love the blue album but the NEW Green one is very good as well. I missed pinkerton so I have some catching up to do but what I've heard I love!!! Don't let all the "pinkerton was a flop" stuff upset you, it is still has awesome songs!! WEEZER KICKS MY ASS!! :)

allya:

geek rock for the geek in you!

im just wondering why only 11 people have said they listen to weezer. this band is my absolute favourite. they took a 5 year hiatus between albums after the not-so-critical success of pinkerton. but through the years, they developed quite the cult following, and after releasing their 3rd album, fans have sprung up everywhere! lets be serious here, try and think of one person you know who doesnt like weezer.... why dont you just stop trying because that person doesnt exist!! a crowd pleaser in ever genre. you just cant go wrong.

Julia:

Sorta peppy rock-ish alternative... yeah...

"Suzanne", a song of theirs, is a favourite of mine. Also "pink triangle", but those aren't their well-known ones.

E Train:

Awesome rock

some witty lyrics.. some crappy lyrics.. .but all in all great music. A Revenge of the Dorks rock
type band

Faustus:

Anyone who makes a music video with the Muppets is a-okay in my book....

Austin:

Weezerific!

Blue, Pinkerton = awesomness...the rest is good too. Mmm, and b-sides. Haven't heard any of their music? Put down everything right now, and go buy the blue album....now!!

Bruce Rose:

Late to the game...

It took me a while to really GET Weezer, even though I've had the blue album since it was released. It took Pinkerton (in 2002) to make me a fan. The die-hard Weezer fans will discount me for this part, but I like the green album much better than the blue... and Pinkerton outshines them both.

Doktor Pepski, kommie:

Looking back 10 years later after the release of the album known in Weezer fan circle's as "The Blue album", Could they possibly the most influential band in the past ten years? I would say so, the sound is almost regularly copped by others, a the geek fashion is a bit chic, so yeah, why not?

Tori Rose:

Weezer is one of the greatest, most influential alterna-rock/nerd-rock bands of our time. The Blue Album (as its lovingly called) not only fires up the creative juices of 90% of the bands that make up this genre today, but it has become a household must have for music junkies like myself.

"Buddy Holly." That's all I gotta say. But I'll also say "My Name is Jonas" and "Say it Aint So" for good measure.
