Favorite Bands from Goob-O-Rama

Aimee Mann - 7/10

But if you haven't seen Magnolia...

YOU SHOULD. Not just for her music.

Cry Cry Cry - 7/10

and...

When they play the songs together that they have written individually, somehow they transcend themselves. If you have ever heard the three of them play Lucy's "Ten Year Night" together, you know what I mean. They bring out the best in each other.

Kevin So - 7/10

A nice guy...

I actually had the guy at my campsite at FRFF '99 playing songs for me and my couple of friends... and hung out with him later... and he gave me a CD. Can't miss his fun version of "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"... extra track on "Along the Way", and even better in person. Plus he's pretty cute...

Tom Lehrer - 7/10

It constantly amazes me...

...that people know who this guy is. I thought that "poisoning pigeons in the park" was a unique moment of my childhood, that no one could understand or share with me. But it seems there are those who can sing along when I say, "I hold your hand in mine, dear; I press it to my lips. I take a healthy bite from your dainty fingertips. My joy would be complete, dear, if you were only here, but still I keep your hand as a precious souvenir."

Erin McKeown - 7/10

Jazzy, yes, but not so quiet.

She can really belt it out. Saw her opening for Dan Bern- she was good, with the potential to get much better. Keep your eye on her.

King Crimson - 7/10

Court of the Crimson King

was one of my bestest favorites as a child, rediscovered recently. Ah! Such ecstacy in the form of music! And man, what an album cover.

Jian and the Cat Killers - 7/10

cats make me sneeze, too. i'm with jian.

Suzanne Vega - 7/10

Yay! She is my favorite plum!!!

Singable, with awesome lyrics, and musical quality that matters. makes me cry.
