The World as I Know It

Aargh! Sorry this page is so long in the coming, I've been busy, but I know tha's no excuse, right? Well, as for the page updates, I've just transfered my X-Files page over to Geocities format, so go and visit it!! (After you read this of course :-)

Well, my plans for this summer are to go to Bavaria for two months in an exchange program. I'm kind of nervous about it, you know, will I get along with this person, what will their house be like, and all that. It'll be for two months, which is a long time. Then they'll come over to my house for two months! So if we don't get along, that will be an interesting predicament!! So that's where I'll be this summer, off in Germany, getting a south german accent!

My Thanksgiving this year was spent in the Outer Banks, at our family's beachouse. My immediate family, and 11 other people. Needless to say, it was very scrunched. :-) Most of Thanksgiving day was spent with me and two of my cousins fighting with my uncle over the remote to the TV. A whole glorious day of X-Files on Fx, versus another banal football game. I was winning there for a while, but then my uncle stole the remote right out of my hand!! When will these people ever learn?

I've just received a letter in the mail today, my mother saw it, and said "It looks like you've recieved something important!" It was packaged in a lovely manilla envelope with a sticker on the side, saying that if it had been tampered with, return it to the postmaster. So naturally, I was excited, it's not every day one recieves a letter like this! As soon as I opened it, I saw the words "You have won $833,337.00 in cash!!" I was a little excited for a second there, and then saw the telltale words in the smallest print ever made "If you have and return the winning numbers." They were even camouflaged into the paper!! I mean, really, some poor sap probably has seen one of these letters, and then got extremely excited, calling all his relatives long distance that he had won some inordinate sum of money, only later to have his joy dashed by the fact that he was actually the victim of a scam perpetrated by Dick Clark of all people!! And $833,337 is an odd amount. I wonder how they choose, and say, well this person isn't good enough to possibly win $850,000, but $800,000 is such a pithy amount, so let's comprimise!! Ha! Sigh. One of these days I'll get a letter without that fine print! Really.
