I hate my hall.
I really hate my hall.
It wasn't this bad last semester.
This semester the inflatable chairs came. First there were only two. Someone had the bright idea to put these chairs in the hall. "Hey! If we put inflatable chairs in the hallway, then we can sit out there and talk about whatever we want!"
The inflatable chairs multiplied. Then there were four. With the more chairs that appeared, the inane chatter at night got louder. Conversations about butt rashes and jean stains were obnoxiously broadcast, the shrill sound waves going through our all too thin door. They began to leave old socks in the hall, calculus books, old papers, whatever they didn't want to bring the five feet back into their rooms.
Apparently, this wasn't enough for them. The inflatable chairs multiplied, with some bean bag chairs to accompany them. Six inflatable chairs and two bean bag chairs. They block my door when I open it to go out in the morning. They think it's some grand slumber party type thing. They sit out there and paint their nails. And talk. Loudly.
I have frightening nightmares of not being able to leave my room because of inflatable chairs multiplying and piling one on top of another blocking the door.
But now it's gone too far.
Today a television appeared in the hallway. Now they're doing tae-bo. In the hallway. Loudly. My door is closed to try to drown out the noise, but I hear lots of jumping and banging. I think someone just kicked someone else. Not only is my hallway annoying, it's also clumsy.
And as long as I'm complaining about my hall, I'd like to say a word about the showers. For the first week, all of the showers would spew out about five drops of ice water. The situation mildly improved at the end of the week, only to result in the showers flooding a room, so they all got turned off for the weekend. Now, apparently only one shower is leaking, so they turned off two and have one running, to try to find the leak. This shower has water pressure, but it's still ice cold. Now everyone on this floor has to be a refugee and run up the stairs or down the stairs to another floor to take a shower.
I love college.
Thank you, that is all.

Far be it
from me
To end this pain
By trying to laugh at all those times we cried
Far be it from me
To sound a little bitter
Knowing all we had has died
I'm just glad you found the right way
'Cause God knows we had it wrong
You got everything you wanted
And all I got was a song
