i scream for soy! because real ice cream makes me scream - in pain :D
Sarah Back · 20 years, 8 months ago
Lemme guess... lactose intollerant? That's my problem with real ice cream.
sheryls Back · 20 years, 8 months ago

yep! i love soy icecream. there's this one brand called Soy Delicious that i really dig. oh, the peanut butter cup is to die for. mm.

it's a little grainy, but when you havent had real ice cream in as long as i have, you really don't mind.

ChrisChin is Getting Old · 20 years, 8 months ago

Usually I get hankerings for strawberry ice cream. The only form of chocolate I don't really like is ice cream....I mean it's great if there are chocolate bits in the ice cream (such as mint chocolate chip...yum), but for some reason, I usually don't like chocolate ice cream.

Nathan Back · 20 years, 8 months ago
I don't really care for chocolate either, and I also don't know why. My favorite flavor is actually peach, but any fruit-flavored ice cream is usually good, so I voted for "berrylicious."
Adam Hartfield · 20 years, 8 months ago

I don't eat much ice cream anymore, so when I do, I like it to be the best of its kind. To wit: Godiva Belgian Dark Chocolate. Oh, my. Or, Haagen Dazs Dulce e Leche. Or, homemade peppermint stick at JB's Ice Cream Factory.

But chocolate usually wins out.

Yvonne · 20 years, 8 months ago

I voted chocolate but coffee is my second favourite.

Oh yeah, I gave that stuff up. :P

*feels healthy*

K-Lyn · 20 years, 8 months ago

Cherry Garcia frozen yogurt is my fave!!!

Although I also really dig Phish Food...

goovie is married! Back · 20 years, 8 months ago

Yeah, I *so* wish they still made coffee coffee buzz buzz buzz....

*sighs*
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 20 years, 8 months ago
They do. I saw it yesterday.
nate... Back · 20 years, 8 months ago
must've been a special release... unless they JUST started again.

They stopped back in.... 99? 98?

I just checked their website, too, and it's listed in the "Flavor Graveyard".

sheryls Back · 20 years, 8 months ago
my favorite one in the graveyard is Cool Britannia, and then they brought out a new one that was similar but by that time i couldn't eat it. it was strawberry ice cream with fudge-covered shortbread bits. mmm.
ChrisChin is Getting Old Back · 20 years, 8 months ago
Yes! Cool Britannia is one of my fav dearly departed Ben & Jerry's Flavors. It was the prefect combination of berrylicious ice cream with chocolate bits that I crave. *sigh* It was resurrected briefly as part of a 2 twisted flavor called SNAFU (Strawberries Naturally All Fudged Up), which was also very yummy too. But that too is in the graveyard. *double sigh*
renita Back · 20 years, 8 months ago
oh bovinity divinity, how we loved you.

*sniff*
stealthlori Back · 20 years, 8 months ago

Oh I'm with you on the Cherry Garcia.

In fact, I find that I like many of the B&J's yogurts better than the corresponding ice cream.

It's a girl! Back · 20 years, 8 months ago

Their blueberry cobbler yogurt rocked my casbah. Alas I can't find it anymore

Sadly my answer to the poll question has to be "I can't eat ice cream, you insensitive clod!"

I can, however, manage frozen yogurt, so Ben and Jerry's makes me happy!

George E. Nowik · 20 years, 8 months ago

chocolate chip cookie dough!! :D :D

renita Back · 20 years, 8 months ago

besides, that's not my favorite :P

strawberry frozen yogurt all the way...
Gordondon son of Ethelred · 20 years, 8 months ago
There are flavors of ice cream that aren't chocolate?

The best ice cream in the universe is Cones on Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village. Their dark chocolate is pure joy.
Andrea Krause Back · 20 years, 8 months ago

Dark chocolate ice cream? Gah. That sounds about as close to heaven as I'll ever get. Want.

Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 20 years, 8 months ago
Come see a show in the Village with me and we'll get some.
Mollie Back · 20 years, 8 months ago
I'm generally not given to making such superlatives, but I maintain that The Best Ice Cream in the World can be found at Graeter's, a small chain in Ohio. Their flavors aren't fancy, but the ice cream is dense, smooth and very, very creamy. You can order it online if you don't mind paying $70 for six pints/$110 for a dozen pints.
http://www.graeters.com
Talcott Back · 20 years, 8 months ago
yep. I'll second graeters!

Of course, it's central Ohio, so I have to support it around here! :-D
Sally · 20 years, 8 months ago
Breyers Mint Chip...white mint ice cream....yum :)

Josh Woodward Back · 20 years, 8 months ago

Neopolitan kix ass.
Rachel Beck · 20 years, 8 months ago
Homemade spiced applesauce ice cream is my next favorite. Start with a big old batch of applesauce, add sugar to taste, plus vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cardamom. Then add 2 pints of cream (or soy substitute). Top off the gallon container with milk / soymilk / rice milk, and stir/freeze. Yummy.
*joolee* · 20 years, 8 months ago

Mmmm cookies and cream!!

danced with Lazlo · 20 years, 8 months ago
Green tea, red bean, ginger and mango are the best.

Next comes coffee.
ChrisChin is Getting Old Back · 20 years, 8 months ago
I'm a big fan of their almond cookie flavor...yum.
Jillian Bird · 20 years, 8 months ago

There is a place on Bloor in Toronto that has Roasted Marshmallow flavour. I've never seen it anywhere else, but it is fabulous. I usually get a scoop of Marshmallow and one of some variety of chocolate so it tastes like a s'mores. mmmmmmmmmdddrroool.

Yvonne Back · 20 years, 8 months ago
Their milkshakes rock too. Mmm...pistachio milkshake.

- Schwan's Summers Dream (I'm sure this exists by other names, as well, I just know this one -- it's an orange sherbet/vanilla swirl)
- Vanilla
- Maple Walnut
- Butter Pecan
- Strawberry
- Orange Sherbet

Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

sheryls Back · 20 years, 8 months ago
back when i used to be able to eat ice cream, i liked Schwann's Silver Mint bars! my mom would chase the schwann's guy down to get it :D
stealthlori Back · 20 years, 8 months ago

orange sherbet + vanilla ice cream = creamsicle.

It goes under many other names -- and Stewart's has an extremely silly one that escapes me at the moment -- but that's what this blend essentially is.

anyone remember Cubic Scoops? I think it was a Breyer's product from the mid-80s. It came in vanilla/chocolate ice cream or vanilla ice cream/orange sherbet.

stealthlori Back · 20 years, 8 months ago

Okay, now the question of "what does Stewart's call their orange-and-vanilla blend?" is driving me stark raving.

It's something silly like ... rooty tooty fresh n fruity ... or snickerdoodle dandy ... or dipsydoodleitis ... but obviously it's none of those, because they're all different things entirely. But think an absurd, somewhat onomatapoetic series of syllables, I think heavy on "c" or "ch". And it really has nothing to do with the words "orange" or "vanilla" or "ice cream".

New York Staters and Vermonters represent ... youshould know this kind of thing! It's your convenience store after all!

Adam Hartfield Back · 20 years, 8 months ago

Fireworks? Philly Vanilla?

http://www.stewartsshops.com/pdf/upload/Icecreamsaleorder2003.pdf

stealthlori Back · 20 years, 8 months ago

oooo! I couldn't find that page when I googled Stewart's!

It's not Fireworks, or Philly Vanilla (which is just vanilla with real vanilla bean flecks in it) or even Star Gazers, although that's pretty cool stuff.

It's something *very very reminiscent of* Kaydeeross Kreme. In fact I'm quite certain it's Kaydeesomething Something. Kaydeeross Kreme is probably the low-fat version of what I'm thinking of. I'm ... so close to remembering it now ... my head might explode! Duck quick!

It appears it isn't on this order sheet though. Maybe it's a limited-edition flavor combo. (Or they changed the name to Kaydeeross Kreme).

stealthlori Back · 20 years, 8 months ago
http://www.bizjournals.com/albany/stories/2001/02/19/smallb1.html

answers the main question. it really is Kaydeross Kreme. and it's tangerine sherbet, not orange.

but ... what the heck is a Kaydeross? the name seems to be a geographic commonplace in the Saratoga area. Heck, there are even sailboats named after it. *baffled*
Tracie · 20 years, 8 months ago

It's all about Breyer's vanilla. All good stuff. ^_^

- Tracie

It's a girl! Back · 20 years, 8 months ago
Anyone else here that can't stand Breyer's? It's just so grainy somehow.
nate... Back · 20 years, 8 months ago
Yeah, I'm not a fan.
Andrea Krause Back · 20 years, 8 months ago

It's very much more "ice" than "cream". Reminds me of ice milk sometimes.

danced with Lazlo Back · 20 years, 8 months ago
*shrug* sometimes I like the subtlety
stealthlori Back · 20 years, 8 months ago
I like Breyer's for exactly the reason of its "skinny" feeling. It's good when I want ice cream milkiness, but don't want to feel bloaty afterwards -- like I just drank a pitcher of cream or ate a stick or two of butter. This is particularly important insummertime.
Andrea Krause Back · 20 years, 8 months ago
Yeah I tend to like it when it's Breyer's mint chocolate chip. Something about the mint and the less creamy go together in my mind. But I hate their vanilla. Maybe because it's too close to milk and I hate plain milk. :)
danced with Lazlo Back · 20 years, 8 months ago
hmmm... I dislike plain milk too... but I like it with a bit of sweetness. I love milk with honey, or milk from a bowl of frosted flakes (dude... when do I *ever* eat frosted flakes?) so I really like the light and milky and subtly sweet taste of breyers vanilla.
Mollie Back · 20 years, 8 months ago
Breyer's always tastes chalky to me--probably because it's all-natural, so doesn't have gums and emulsifiers. Never thought I'd be supporting them, but I think when you're used to them, you miss them when they're gone.
Jºnªthªn Back · 20 years, 8 months ago
I like my ice cream to be nothing but emulsifiers. mmmmm...lecithin
nate... Back · 20 years, 8 months ago

I loooooove brownie batter and half baked.

My dad has a weird sense of humor that usually embarassed me growing up.

He'd take me and my friends for ice cream and then order Tuna Beef Ripple. It always took to server a moment to compose themselves.
