Female Superheros

   Discussion: Female Superheros
K-Lyn · 20 years, 7 months ago

We have a big annual murder party in February that a friend of ours writes. They are quite elaborate and we work on costumes for months before so he just released this year's theme. Superheroes. We can pick any genre but we have to get back to him with our character and I'm at a loss since that's not really my bag. I love x-men (cartoon and movies) and have some knowledge of justice league and HATE Wonder Woman with a passion. There really aren't a lot of females out there (what does that say about our current civilization, eh?)

So...help... who should I be? You can see my pictures to know what I look like (ie skin tight costumes needing cleavage not so much an option). With my red hair I immediately thought of Jean Gray but what do I do for an outfit? kinda boring. Rogue might be fun(with a wig obviously). I need more ideas and Fruheads always come through for me!

Supergirl!
K-Lyn Back · 20 years, 7 months ago

I thought of that...since I so loved my underroos...but thought it also required hte skintight cleavage look...doncha think?

Speaking of underroos...what about batgirl? My boyfriend would makea great batman. I never really knew much about her

...goes off to research.

Andrea Krause Back · 20 years, 7 months ago

Batgirl's a nice pick too. Her hair might work better for ya.

They might require skintight but I don't think cleavage is a big issue.

If it was just comic books as a theme I'd say Death from Sandman but she's not exactly a superhero. :)

K-Lyn Back · 20 years, 7 months ago

Yeah...I want to stretch the theme and be War from Good Omens but a horseman of the apocalypse is not a superhero either

Adam Hartfield Back · 20 years, 7 months ago

Sailor Moon!

She-Ra!

(okay, the red hair is a challenge, but easily surmountable.)

K-Lyn Back · 20 years, 7 months ago

I figure this is one time I should consider my red-hair an advantage but I'm not opposed to a black or brown wig...I do NOT make a good blonde though. I have some Alice in Wonderland pictures from from a few years ago to prove it.

Poision Ivy? I admit I was blocked to this since Uma played her but it might work. I have green lipstick from another costume...

Obviously you don't read comics. There is a pleathera of heronine's to choose from. Lets start with The X-Men. We all know Storm, Phenix, Rouge, Jubilie, Husk, Psylocke, The White Queen, Sage, and Lilandra, but lets not forget Mirage, Polaris, Wolfsbane, Magma, Domino, Boom Boom, and Feral. Of course there is Spider-Girl, Batgirl, and Supergirl. But there is Promethia, Power Girl, Hawkwoman, and Black Canary. Let us not forget the "Bad Girl" craze in the ninties with Lady Death, Electra, Kabuki, and Catwoman. Plus there is the woman of Wildstorm like Voodoo, Jakita, Void and quite a few others.

There are a ton of websites to visit! www.dccomics.com, www.image.com, www.wildstorm.com, www.marvel.com, www.darkhorse.com, www.comicbookresources.com, www.crossgen.com

With red hair, you get to be Blossom! She's my fave!

goovie is married! Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
yes! go as blossom!

a mother eating at the coffeehouse where i used to work once convinced her kids that i *was* blossom, and i had come all the way from the city of townsville to work undercover there and make sure little kids were eating their vegetables. :)

Buttercup is the only woman that ever truely loved me.

Gordondon son of Ethelred · 20 years, 7 months ago
Not a traditional superhero but Willow really should qualify and she has the red hair. I'm not exactly sure how you go about dressing as her though. The early presuperwitch Willow had a more distinctive style.
renita · 20 years, 7 months ago
rainbow brite. yo.
K-Lyn Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
I have a really hard time buying that any character with a stuffed doll version is a superhero...
renita Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
rainbow brite gets no respect man. no respect at all.

not last halloween but the halloween previous I created my own superhero team. the duct-tape duo. that was fun.

K-Lyn Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
Duct-tape duo? Is that like the Wonder Twins???
renita Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
take a peek in my profile, there are few pics there.

our motto was "stopping inane conversation everywhere, shutting one mouth at a time"
K-Lyn Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
That looks very cool. Looks like it hurt but still very cool! I'm sure the motto was perfect!
renita Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
oh GOD. NO.

the costumes weren't taped to our bodies!

it was double-sided, and had a zipper so we could wear them more than once, of course, I din't think I fit it right now. but that's besides the point.
Annika · 20 years, 7 months ago
You should go as the Bionic Woman!
K-Lyn Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
Oh how I loved htat show. But how to I get that cool sound to follwo me and play me in slow motion?
Annika Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
You could have it recorded on one of those mini recorders, and just slow the tape down in the proper moments!
Gordondon son of Ethelred · 20 years, 7 months ago
You could also go the supervillain route.

Catwoman
Harlequin
Poison Ivy

they are all from Batman, any good female supervillains in other comics?
sheryls Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
what about the black widow?
K-Lyn Back · 20 years, 7 months ago

The more I think about it the more Poision Ivy wins out over Bat girl.

A. she's evil and that's way more fun than being a librarian

b. green is my favorite colour

c. I have ivys all over my house for decor so that would be easy

d. she's EVIL!!!!!!!

goovie is married! Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
what about being an evil librarian? :D
K-Lyn Back · 20 years, 7 months ago

Well, I've been looking for an evil librarian superhero but there seems to be a shortage...

;-)

K-Lyn Back · 20 years, 7 months ago

Clearly I'm only thinking of the"Party Girl" variety of evil librarian.
