Chapter and Verse

   Discussion: Chapter and Verse
Gordondon son of Ethelred · 20 years, 7 months ago
As some of you might have noticed I can quote chapter and verse from LOTR. If I dont' remember a line exactly I at least know where to find it. I'm not the only one here like that. What books and films do you know inside out?
danced with Lazlo Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
The Princess Bride

Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Dead Poets Society

The Hitchhikker's Guide to the Galaxy

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead

I can sing the entire score of Les Miserables, Assasins, and Sweeny Todd.

There's probably more, but that's all I can think of at the moment.

OK I've known you for four years and we never talked about Sweeney Tood and R&G are Dead? The "Death is not being on a boat" discussion is one of my favorite dialogues.

We've never played at questions??

(Questions is on page 42, by the way.)

Do you believe we haven't?

Oh yeah... also Back to the Future.

And Amadeus.

Like Gella, I'm down with the musicals.

I can sing the entire scores of:

Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, The Secret Garden, Cats, Aida, Rent, Coed Prison Sluts (don't kill me, Gordon), Titanic, The King and I, Fiddler on the Roof, Footloose (only because I was in it), The Sound of Music (that's a gimme), Applause (see Footloose), The Wiz (again), Children of Eden, Pippin, Rent, most of A Funny Thing... Forum, and wow, my mind is blanking.

Must go lick a parrot now.

The film or the operetta?

The film aka March of the Wooden Soldiers was one of my favorites as a kid. That's the Laurel and Hardy version, there's another but I never could get into it.
Wintress Back · 20 years, 7 months ago

Film. With Annette.

I forgot that I can also sing along with most of Chess, the musical. Had the pleasure of catching a local production of Chess. Yay!

Harold and Maude, The Point, Grease (the movie, edited for TV version), The Breakfast Club, 16 Candles
Bruce Rose · 20 years, 7 months ago

I might miss one or two lines, but I can quote enough of these that no one will watch them with me:

Grease
The Princess Bride
Pulp Fiction
The Neverending Story
Annie (with Albert Finney)
Spice World
Xanadu

I'm sure there are others, but it's been a while. I'll have to wait until I see them again to find out for sure.
jaye Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
yes! spice world!

and i forgot kicking and screaming.

Seen it, own it, and quote it regularly.

Of course, there aren't many people who recognize the quotes, but that's their loss. :-)

Dude, I forgot about Ocean's 11! That's an excellent movie.

Funny thing, I don't even own a copy of Bring it On or Ocean's 11... I have just managed to catch each of them whenever they're on TV every time.

Labyrinth is the biggest though. The one I truly can recite everything along with it as I watch it.
