BitTorrent rocks my socks!
Nik Chaikin · 20 years, 6 months ago
I tried but the download was taking hours, and i HAVE broadband.
nate... Back · 20 years, 6 months ago
Yeah, it takes forever.

But, hey, it's worth the wait... just set it up and leave it running overnight. (or, preferably longer... like, a week.. so you can seed others.)

ellen, formerly evil Back · 20 years, 6 months ago
yeah. for the size of the files you can get over bittorrent, the length of the download isn't that bad. when I first started doing it, I had to get used to my computer being awake all night long.

Of course, then I downloaded that 10gig torrent, which I belive took well over a week...
Agent Scully Back · 20 years, 6 months ago
I agree. It takes forever but it's well worth the wait!

I love them and thank everyone who is posting them! I'm getting shows that I don't have or that I have on cassette and can replace the cassettes now.

Thanks everyone!

It's so nice to be able to get shows over the net instead of trading by mail...if you think downloading them is slow, at least it's not as slow as snail mail, lol. It's great to be able to get so many hard-to-find shows that otherwise I wouldn't get a chance to listen to.

Andrea Krause · 20 years, 6 months ago

I've had a really hard time with it, because I am apparently dumb. I can't seem to tell if I downloaded the show I started. Hours later it no longer said in progress but I don't seem to HAVE it. And I dont have the first clue how to decode the things once I get them if I ever AM successful.

Feeling really dumb and deprived. *whine*

Got 'em all. And I don't have to feel guilty about leeching because I've shared over 100 GB from 'em. ;-)

Oh, how I wish BT was around back in the day. Oh, and fast connections.
Mamalissa! · 20 years, 6 months ago
Downloadin' 'em at work. Dial-up at home (rarely used). Bad, bad girl.
stealthlori · 20 years, 6 months ago

i'll probably do it eventually, but right now it's not a high priority. not much is.

ellen, formerly evil Back · 20 years, 6 months ago
ah, but see, with a torrent, it will die if there are no "seeds," which is what happens if a file goes for a while without having someone download it (aka "leech" it). So "eventually" the file might not be available for download, anymore.
stealthlori Back · 20 years, 6 months ago

oh. well then i'll try to get on it this wknd. *administers KITA to self*

meh · 20 years, 6 months ago

i think this, "insentive clod" should be corrected to "insensitive clod".

hee hee.

<3

but, alas, they have no incentive. there are no standards anymore, for this is the internet. *cue wailing and gnashing of teeth*

dirty life & times · 20 years, 6 months ago
i have fast internet, but i have no idea how to download the concerts. if this is too stupid of a question to ask in public (or if it's explained somewhere that i didn't see), i would love for someone wiser to frum me on this subject!
Talcott · 20 years, 6 months ago
See, my problem is that my burner is broken, and I don't listen to too much on my computer. I probably should DL them to have them when I have a burner, but I haven't yet...
Kris 'engaged' Bedient Back · 20 years, 6 months ago
alas, burner-less as well. <sigh>
John J. Ryan Back · 20 years, 6 months ago

No problem, I shall be burning CDs of these shows in due time. Perhaps making an MP3 CD would rock too.

I'm loving all these shows by the way. It's great to see Fruvous activity on FHDC again.

jaye Back · 20 years, 6 months ago
an mp3 cd would be awesome. liek. yes.
nate... Back · 20 years, 6 months ago
nooooooo.

burn it as a real cd.
if you wanna use mp3 for your own use, that's cool.. but for the love of god don't distribute it as mp3.

ickypoo.

jaye Back · 20 years, 6 months ago
well, i'd rather have the real thing, but i highly doubt anyone's going to want to go to that kind of effort.
lawrence Back · 20 years, 6 months ago
ahhhh, audio snobs. gotta love 'em.

honestly, if you encode at 192, or better yet, high bitrate VBR (say 192-320) you totally can't tell the difference.
nate... Back · 20 years, 6 months ago
That may (or may not) be true... but think about it... if people get the mp3's.. then at some point decide they want to play them in normal cd players, convert to wav and burn an audio cd.... then someone takes that and rips it to mp3's... etc.... you get into the same sort of situation that we used to dread back when we had to trade cassette tape.... generational loss.

jaye Back · 20 years, 6 months ago
well, i realize that. but if it's the difference between me getting something with loss and me not getting anything at all . .you see?
nate... Back · 20 years, 6 months ago
But, I thought ellen was sharing with you. :)
