uhhhh, why not? I'd rather have it take up 50MB than the current 300+.

My whole understanding is�so you don't introduce lossy compression into the mix.� As long as you don't encode it to mp3, and then trade a cd or shns made from those mp3's, it shouldn't matter, though.� Make mp3s, just don't share or trade them.

Exactly... a lot of tapers put this rule in their text file and announcements. I'm just passing it along. Personally I don't mind if anyone converts to MP3 or whatever flavor of the moment, but PLEASE don't burn them back to CD-audio for someone. It will just degrade the thing further and further when the original pristine source is likely still available.

I've seen a few of my recordings on CD that were clearly sourced from MP3s that I was trading on Napster way back. No matter really, but it's a shame that the source isn't properly disclosed.
