Poll: How far into recreational drug use have you delved? |

How far into recreational drug use have you delved?
You don't consider them both to fall under "hard stuff"? I don't really know many who have tried either, so I'll take your word for it. I just figure Josh has to condense some polls somehow and there probably wasn't a more logical way. :)

.oo Don't drink, don't smoke...what do you do? Oo.
Yeah. That's me. Don't drink, never have. Same goes for smoking of any ilk. I'm addicted to caffeine, but that's about it. I dunno. Part of it is a reaction to the addictions in my family history and how they've affected me. Part of it is that so many of the people I see who do these things with any frequency look like complete idiots. Part of it is a lack of faith in myself...I know my emotional flaws and I see myself as someone quite in danger of being an addict if I start. And that's not the kind of thinking you want to test. Or at least I don't. Heck. The only time drinking ever appeals to me is when I'm so depressed I just want to get out of my skull and make the world go away. And if that isn't warning sign enough that I shouldn't start, I don't know what is.
Though I will say I had Vicodin. By prescription for some pretty bad pain. Didn't do anything for me, though...even for the pain I was in. So I still have most of the bottle years later. *shrug*
they gave me vicodin for wisdom teeth. it only made me puke all the time.

I smoked for years, but it's been over a year and a half since I quit tobacco. I haven't smoked mj since before Jeremy was born, so it's been around 7 years there. I drink rarely cause it tastes yucky and makes me want to sleep, though I do imbibe wine on occasion. When I lived in Vegas, I had to blend in with the natives so I tried crystal meth a couple of times. I wouldn't try it again, nor any other drugs, especially not "psychodelic" ones. I don't even consume caffeine (except in chololate)

Seems to me that this poll would've been better served by checkboxes rather than the "select one choice, dillweed" poll.
I mean, for example, I fit under several of the categories... And I suspect that a lot of other people do, as well.
umm, I'm still in college, does that mean I should do drugs?
Hahaha! I'm in college, too. Here's how often I do ANY DRUGS:
Last night, I had three bottles of Mountain Dew. I haven't had that much caffeine in so long, I stayed up twitching and jittering until about 1:30 am when we finished a project then CRASHED LIKE A MOFO. I mean, seriously crashed. I think I fell asleep in midsentence several times.

I did a lot of almost everything. Quit almost everything short of smoking and drinking when I was 17-18ish. Now I have wine with dinner, and a cigarette very very occasionally, like 1 a month.. Which I don't feel guilty for because, dude, that's from 1-2 packs a day...
Yup, that's my argument to myself as to why I shouldn't feel guilty. heh..

Well yes I've had drinks but I've never been drunk and it has never been why I drank. I've never had more than 2 drinks it a week and that was 30 years ago.
I've also taken plenty of prescription drugs including morphine but that was always under a doctors care and I never felt high.

I don't really consider alcohol a drug per se, but I've gotten shit-faced wasted on a few ocassions. It was a good way to learn my limits, but I don't drink to get wasted any more. I usually either drink socially and consider beer/wine/mixed drinks a mere beverage choice, or if I'm drinking for the primary reason of feeling the effects of alchohol, then I know where my "happy, yet controlled" place is and I don't venture beyond it.
I've tried pot once. Couldn't smoke it, just like I can't smoke cigarettes. Nasty stuff.

i don't like being drunk. and i'm not even all that fond of tipsy, though it can be alright under some circumstances. i've never taken drugs that weren't prescribed for me. well, once i got a tylenol 3 from mike, but my back was doing bad bad spasm-y things.

You know... the poll options seem to imply that it goes:
nothing booze pot harder harder still personally, i'd prefer to think that the options were just coincidentally set up like that. after all, i smoke pot, but i don't ever, EVER drink. in fact, i hate it. then how, based on this poll, did I go from nothing to pot? :P regarding intoxicants/narcotics in general, i always say: if you are going to do something stupid, at least TRY and be smart about it. and for the record, i've smoked pot, hash, opium, and the competition! (sorry about that last part. really, i am.) well, now that i think about it, the poll order is more or less representative of the GATEWAY path that most people seem to take, or at least follow to some degree. Not to spark a completely useless topic of consistent debate, but I still can't believe that alcohol is legal and pot isn't. Besides, I wouldn't recommend driving while drunk. Driving high, while not the smartest thing to do, isn't excactly hard. I'd say that using a text messaging device while driving is more hazardous than driving while high.... wait, I do that too. Not at the same time, mind you.

I was given a lot of painkillers (Percoset) after a small operation earlier this year and I have a lot leftover, and I admit to having taken them at times since then just to "chill out." I'm not a big drinker and have never been a drug user, so I've sort of surprised myself that I've done this at all. Sometimes I think I should just flush them down the toilet, but I haven't. I know there is the potential to get hooked and I don't like the thought of that at all.
The thing is I don't even feel Percoset. I must have a high threshold for painkillers. They never make me feel good and only the really good stuff, Morphine and Demerol, really help me much when I'm in pain.

I've had alcoholic beverages on occasion, but I've never been drunk. I know some people start drinking in college, but it worked pretty much the opposite way for me. While in college, I tended to associate drinking with rowdy parties, and since I'm not into that kind of thing, I didn't drink, either. After college, though, I relaxed a little about alcohol, and I don't have a problem with taking a drink on rare occasions, but I still think drinking it to excess can be a serious problem.
Other drugs, including tobacco and pot, have just never been part of my paradigm. It wasn't a matter of just saying no; I never even had anyone to say no to. It just really never crossed my mind to do drugs. You must first create an account to post.
