I read that Queens residents have the longest average commute of the residents of any county. Mine is over an hour and I think of it as easy. I drive to the Long Island Railroad. Take the train into manhattan then the subway up to school. In nice weather I've been known to skip the subway and in snow the drive. The walks are each about a mile and a half.

It varies. Usually on the way to work it's about 33 minutes, on the way home it can be anywhere from 45min-1 1/2 hrs.

...but my "commute" to "work" is usually around 20 minutes. it might be different this year though, we'll see how the bus route looks. depending on all the construction going on, it might still be longer than it should.

40 minutes driving, 80 minutes on transit. It's worth the extra 40 minutes to get out of the parking and fuel charges.

one of like 3 people in the greater boston area who drive to work that do not live like an hour away :P

john's commute, when he does not work from home, is about 1.5 hours to either Burlington or Newton.

Unless it is the first of the month or a Tuesday.

It takes me about ten or fifteen minutes to walk to work. It would only take a few had I a car, but with the traffic lights around here, walking might turn out to be quicker anyways.

I've never had a particularly long commute to work. In Columbus it was a five minute walk to the bus stop, a five-ten minute wait (because I was obsessively early) and then maybe a ten-fifteen minute ride downtown. My longest commutes involved another ten minute walk or bus ride, but that's it. I don't think I've ever had a commute of more than 45mins from my door to my desk.

Usually it takes an hour, but it depends when the subway decides to come. Fortunately, it's just one train, so I can zone out for a good 45 minutes before I have to pay attention and get off at my stop.

...but I'm walking. When I was visiting this apartment, I was told it would be a "10-12 minute walk to campus." ha! It's 20 min at a brisk clip, and I'm sure it'll get longer when the weather's not so nice. But I've missed walking, and it sure beats the road rage I used to get on my half-hour commute to/from work each morning/afternoon.

It take about 30 minutes to get from my parkinglot to the school parking lot, and then 5-10 minutes to walk to whatever building my class is in at the time.
