hey, all!

What are the  books, stories and films that really make you cry? Not necessarily sad, as long as the tears are flowing.

I should really do a search of my diary for all the times i mention crying. Off the top of my head I can think of Casablanca and the Richard Thompson's song 1952 Vincent Black Lightning. There are tons more.

I wouldn't say anything I've watched, read, or listened to resulted in flowing tears, but definitely heavily watering eyes.

The most recent thing I can think of is the last three chapters of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

But also, about a dozen episodes of Buffy, exactly one Angel episode, a couple of Firefly episodes (and the movie, Serenity), the end of the movie version of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (but interestingly, not the book). There are a few others that I'm having trouble remembering at the moment, but I think it's only been recently that I've found myself really able to connect with movies, tv, and books in an emotional way. Either that, or it's only recently I've been watching and reading things that can actually get that reaction from me.

Oh, gosh.
Almost anything!

Every Harry Potter book since Goblet of Fire (but none of the movies so far). LotR: The Two Towers (the book, not the movie). Lilo and Stich. Finding Nemo. A Beautiful Mind. Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey. Save the Last Dance. Any other movie that remotely involves father-child (especially father-daughter) bonding moments. The Pianist (almost killed me).

I'm basically an indiscriminate cryer. Making up for lost time - for years I didn't cry at anything.

I won't say much for anyone who hasn't seen this yet (esp those in the UK), but they just released a special episode of The Royal Family - a BBC show from about 7 yrs ago that chonicles "the day in the life" of a lower-middle class family in England by filming them in the their living room doing what any family does, sit around, watch TV and chat. It's really funny and very touching at times and I think much of their sucess is that most everyone can relate to what's going on. Anywho, like I said they just had a special "reunion" episode and at times I really had to bite my lip back to keep from sobbing out loud -it was both sad and touching...that is until I looked over and saw tears running down Richard's face (he claimed there was something in his eye). It's been a long time since a TV show has moved me that much.

and the movie "Rudy" almost made me cry when I was in grade six...but looking back on it, it was kinda retarded...
