Which one of the two ex Beatles has had the better solo career? (in terms of artistic merit not commercial success)

I was listening to sirius disorder channel 32(home of the kennedys dharma cafe) and the morning dj Ghosty was talking about this topic. He thought McCartney had the better solo career and had produced fewer clunkers than Lennon.
