I have decided that I'm a carrier of target ="new">Celiac Disease. I had three friends or relatives that have had it and today a fourth told me she did. They have all been diagnosed in the last two years. None of them knows more than one person other than themselves with it. It isn't like these are casual acquaintances, I've known them all for at least 10 years. So do you have Celiac? Do you know people who do? On the poll when you give the number of people you know with Celiac include yourself.

One of my uncles and a cousin have it, and a friend of mine from home developed it recently. Not that fun of a condition to have. Worse than being lactose intolerant.

yes. I have it. I also cant have corn.
the gluten thing is so severe that I cant even touch it anymore.
and I have to cary around charcole tabs just incase I ingest some because if it is not purged I respond as if i had food poisoning. it taks a whole month to work out of my body making my digestive tract a moody bitch.
I definately have it. I tested as alergic to wheat as a kid, but my dr's said to avoid it the best we could but that we really didnt need to worry about it.
so when I seemed to have no reactions to it my parents just stoped having me avoid it.
throwing up every night after dinner, being chronicly sick, being a very moody kid, having anemia and loosing weight they atributed to me being overly nervous to the point where I made myself ill.
now my mom feels guilty. type 1 diabetes can be triggered by stress, untreated celiac disease can cause mental illness, specificly sckitzophrenia and our family is a carrier for that too. my body has been malnurished since birth and it didnt cause all the stuff I have now, but it makes it all harder.
