Only one so far...

Trivia Question, what does Jeff have in common with Frodo's father? Lets say this is worth 700 Gordonpoints and I'll count it on my LJ game.

they both drowned.

When I saw you were online I figured you'd get it. I think that was a pretty hard question.
jaye Back · 20 years, 4 months ago
really? hence the high point value. i thought it was easy, though ;)

I doubt more than 5% of the population knows how either Jeff Buckley or Drogo Baggins died. If they are totally unrelated so about a quarter of a percent would know both. The funny thing is even thought they both seem to unrelated I'd expect there to be correlation.

huh... I do know how he died, but just totally randomly... in '97 or '98 a friend of mine played a Jeff Buckley song for the CTY (nerd camp) talent show. He intro'd it by saying how wonderful Jeff Buckley was as a musician and as a person and what an unspeakable tragedy his death had been... and then he proceeded to butcher the song.
jaye Back · 20 years, 4 months ago
hrm. i remember where i was when i learned that jeff buckley had died. so. yeah.
Nick Collins · 20 years, 4 months ago
How about "Yes I've heard of him and I respect his talent but am not a huge fan", that would've been my choice in this poll
Phoenix Back · 20 years, 4 months ago
exactly - I couldn't agree more ...

Or, "I know what he does... but... am completely indifferent to him... "

yeah.

or "I know who he is and like his stuff okay but don't own it." Not all of us own tens of thousands of CDs.
sheryls Back · 20 years, 4 months ago

i'm with you on this one - all the options seemed to be like "what? i have no idea wtf you're talking about" or "omg i LOVE him!" :D

i used to play him on my radio show on WBGU, and i liked him alot - i dont own anything by him at all, save an mp3 of Hallelujah.

Nick Collins Back · 20 years, 4 months ago
I really wouldn't know any of his stuff off the top of my head EXCEPT for Hallelujah, his vocal range on that simply knocks me out and that reminds me that I need to obtain a copy of it.

My worst musical experience was the Jeff Buckley tribute in Toronto a couple of years back. Drea and I went 'cause we knew of some of the musicians but the ones that we hadn't heard of or where unfamiliar with were just dreadful. Mary Simon and Three Days Grace by themselves would be enough to make me shoot myself to make the pain end. ;)

Anyone for 7 awful versions of Hallelujah (which isn't even *his* song) followed by 5 versions of Lilac Wine (only one of which was any good - and that's because The Lesters did it *g*)?
Nick Collins Back · 20 years, 4 months ago
I know that Hallelujah isn't his song, and I don't especially LIKE the song that much, but his voice in my opinion is the key element of the song, which I think makes it quite acceptable
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 20 years, 4 months ago
That's why I chose the first answer. I know him and thinked he rocked but I don't own anything by him. I do know his father had a drug problem so that was an accurate answer.

Yet another vote for "Yes I've heard of him and I respect his talent but am not a huge fan"

Samantha · 20 years, 4 months ago
wow... :-/ i'm guessing i'm the only person who really likes him all that much anymore.. i feel quite by my lonesome...
