Wacky rock before there was such a thing!

The B-52s were, in a sense, the Fruvous of the early 80s. Wacky tunes, wackier hair, and the wackiest outfits...they could teach you how to Rock your Lobster! ;)

mickey:

i am so pissed someone beat me to this.

but still. yay for the b-52's. yay for chronic goofiness. a whole song about butterbeans. another about counterfeiting money. love it, love it.

Mike "Racer" Yoshioka:

Fun to listen to when you're driving with nowhere to go

And you gotta know that they will be the answer to some trivia question in the years to come. :) Just preparing you all for "Who Wants To Be A Billionaire" the 2030 edition.

m. badass:

"Love Shack" is the greatest driving song of all time.

Surfy guitars paired with Fred Schneider's and Kate Pierson's super-distinctive vocals make their albums party records for the ages.

frukid:

The B-52s are so much fun..

This band just makes you want to scream the words at the top of your lungs. Memories are made from wacky songs like "Love Shack"....in good ways!!!!

K-Lyn:

Fun, fun, fun! I can't start out a driving trip without playing Roam.

Kerri Chyka:

kinda 60's kinda 80's retro madness

Oh how we love this band. Yes, the whole Cosmic Thing early-90's era was pretty good, but nothing can top their first album featuring "Rock Lobster."

Gatsby:

Retro... with a BRAIN

One of the things that many people don't realize about the B-52s is how earth- and spirit-conscious they are... the music celebrates the REAL good life - having someone to love and something to believe in, and something to dream about! The B-52's music is the spiritual brother to the "River Valley" song... that's the way I see it. Oh, yeah, and they did "Love Shack." Of course.

angelmusicmaven:

Keith Strickland *siiiigh*

Keith didn't look gay next to Fred.... Keith was a major crush of mine in high school, before I knew about his preferences... this band is a major part of my history :)

Bruce Rose:

Any group with Kate Pierson is great. This one has Cindy Wilson, Fred Schnieder, and a bassist that looks a little like Carol Burnett.
Start with anything pre-Good Stuff. Then go backwards.
