Reviews:

wild bill:

recommending a band in my cd collection because it hasn't been recommended yet.

ABBA is quite and amazing pop band from the 70s. Their song 'the winner takes it all' is the most amazing break up song ever.

Amanda Wilson:

You have to respect ABBA

because they refused something like a billion dollars to do a reunion tour. Behind the Music at its finest.

Daancing Queen:

"Take A Chance" on ABBA

With a nickname like mine, what else can I say about them? I just can't believe no one has invented a keyboard that does a backwards "B" yet.

Squee:

Such fun they are!

Fun, upbeat, singalong, dancealong. Great theatrically as well; "Chess" is an amazing musical, and "Mama Mia," which consists pretty much entirely of their music, is booked solid in Toronto for quite some time. And yes, of course Toronto has an Abba Moose.

Mike "Racer" Yoshioka:

They're in my jukebox of 45's

And if you know what a 45 is, I'm impressed. Doubly impressed if your birthday is in the '80's or newer. :) Everyone needs to have a little ABBA moment every now and then. ;)

goovie is married!:

i'm surprised i've beaten shelly to this...

Fun fun fun to sing and dance along to. And if you ever feel like annoying Gordon, "Dancing Queen" is a good way to start. *ducks*

Kat Kunz:

bubblyfun pop music

ABBA Gold was one of the first cds i ever bought when i finally got a cd player (1996?). i became addicted to "dancing queen" and "take a chance on me" through a theater camp i attended, but the whole album is packed with gems ("knowing me, knowing you," "mamma mia," "fernando"). good fun all around.

m. badass:

the greatest shake-your-booty music of all time

ABBA's bouncable, singable, danceable tunes have stood the test of time and then some - bubblegum pop at its most refined. And definitely the greatest music Sweden's ever produced.

K-Lyn:

A guilty pleasure...

bee:

yah, dat is goot

some people think it's uncool to listen to ABBA. i say, "they are swede-pop-tastic!" songs like 'dancing queen' will never die (especially thanks to movies like the adventures of priscilla queen of the desert).

Jamie Snyder:

As pop as they come

Lots of fun, yet when you get down to, some really amazing music. The girls have the most talented voices ever.

Jelly Crystals:

They made the Pop industry what it is

Even though they are Swedish, Australians claimed them. They are the difinitive POP group and shall never be equalled!

It's a girl!:

Who found out that nothing can capture a heart like a melody can?

My first fave song ever was "Gimme Gimme Gimme (A man after midnight)" Two decades later, I still love them. They are the kings and queens of high camp drama-- "Thank You for the Music" anyone? Plus, I defy anyone to find a catchier pop tune than "Waterloo.

Bruce Rose:

The purest possible pop

ABBA amazes me more every time I hear it. Most of their songs could be alive in today's radio market, and still do well (as the A-Teens are demonstrating). It's a shame that most Americans don't know much aside from Dancing Queen. Best cuts: "Nina Pretty Ballerina", "So Long", "Honey Honey", "When I Kissed The Teacher", and (of course) "Super Trouper".

Gordondon son of Ethelred:

Abba is pure evil. Shelly and Carey tortured me with their music for an entire weekend.

Karen L. Heimbach:

ABBA Gold is Fantabulous!!! I fell in love with "take a chance on me because of that infectious beat!!! love it!!! Listen especially to the words "i have a dream" - it will make you cry, trust me!!! all in all, a great album!!!

Agent Scully:

Great music from the 70s and early 80s.

One of my fave bands from when I was a kid. I bought their songbook in 1980. My fave album is "Voulez Vous" and then "Super Trouper."
