lawrence:

definitely worth a listen or several

a lot of people probably just pass these guys off as generic brit pop, but they're so not. Damon is a great musician and songwriter. there was much more thought put into a lot of the lyrics beyond just "write a catchy song." and their videos rock, too. I think Parklife is their best album, but the others aren't too far behind it.

Andrea Krause:

Britpop splendor

One of my very favorite pre-folk bands. I still love them a great deal. This band really knew how to construct a pop song, while still using clever, interesting lyrics and not ending up with an essentially derivative product. Modern Life is Rubbish is indeed a great album (though not their first.) Other than MLIR, I'd recommend Great Escape. They're really really good. :)

Mike "Racer" Yoshioka:

More than just Song 2.

But that song does rock :) The Ottawa Senators even adopted it as their playoff run "anthem". Can't go to a sports game nowadays without hearing it. And hearing 20,000 people yell out "woohooo" is kind of fun :)

Kerri Chyka:

oops

Sorry for the mistake on MLIR.

sarah newhouse:

wonderful...ness.

just too much brilliance in one band. just like fruvous. ;)

amy newhouse:

lifes full of rubbish

they're a brittish band and real good

Kat Kunz:

delightful, infectious, ironic. yum.

i got into blur by buying the 'best of' disc after hearing "for tomorrow" on the listening station at my local CD store. i'd heard song 2, but that was it... MAN, are they fantastic! especially the earlier stuff--though i hear tell their next album will be returning to the style of _parklife_. and i dig that album lots. :D

Mr. Stone IV:

blur? c'mon, now.

too sublime to describe. the great escape and parklife are some of the best pop recorded, period. in league with the beatles.

siobhan's a londoner:

even though I miss Graham and Alex now has the cool Wigwam thing with Betty Boo and Damon is in the Gorillaz and Dave is in computing seeing them live always makes my day. Even without Graham, partiularly when they do "to the end" and "The Universal" and "Popscene" and all the early hits as well as the new stuff. Ah Blur, long may they make rock festivals rock.
