Reviews:

Agent Scully:

Parodies!

Weird Al parodies pop's most popular songs on each of his albums in addition to writing his own quirky material.

lawrence:

I! HATE! SAUERKRAUT!

one of the most talented artists out there. and a Fruhead. his parodies are great, and his original songs are amazing, and often overlooked. not to mention a ton of amazingly silly stuff that can only be seen at live shows.

Squee:

Whee fun!

Yes, it's juvenile. So what? Thhppptptptptppptttpptptpptp! :

Mike "Racer" Yoshioka:

Yay for parodies!

Hey, admit it, they're what we'd all do if we had enough talent ;) And why is it that parodies are so much more fun to listen to than the originals? :)

K-Lyn:

What can I say? This guy is amazing and still one of the best concerts I've seen to date.

Bruce Rose:

A showman of the highest order!

Weird Al puts on a show that goes beyond fantastic. I think I'd skip a Frvous show to see Al. His originals are his best, even though his parodies are better known. You can't go wrong with Dare To Be Stupid as your starter.

Steph Strenger:

"If Weird Al took drugs, he'd act normal."

This is a quote from VH1's Behind The Music on him. It's totally true. This guy is one of the few people who can act like he's high/insane and not be. His parodies are legendary, and his concerts are always spectacular. How can you not like a guy who totally twists hygene film clips into something you can bust a gut laughing at?

Lightning Rod:

I married the closest thing I could find to Weird Al!

Met him last year! What a nice guy! I agree with Lawrence that his originals are highly overlooked! He has also been at this job since the 70's and still his doubble jointed self is still blowing crowds away nightly! I believe everyone needs to see weird Al live! We once drove 6 hours in -65 Alberta weather to see him! it was worth it! I have a tape of him reading Peter and the wolf I hope to play for my kids one day! He broke on to the radio, paving the way for other comedy bands after him, on to live shows, TV host (Much Music), and his own plie of music videos! All in the Shadow of a name like Yankovic! Way to go AL!

elizabeth:

al is rad.

plain and simple. the master of all that is weird. his kids show was genius.

Manda Heim:

he's just cool

weird al has the BEST parodies of songs....i especially love the american pie/star wars one :-) but i think that the classics like my bologna rock too!

Angela Anuszewski:

27 is LIFE!

Al's well, he's Al. One of the top 10 reasons Canada hates the US according to Dave Letterman. He puts on an amazing live performance, although because it is so technical, the setlist doesn't vary each show. At this point, I'd skip Al to see Fruvous, but only because I've been to 10 of Al's shows this tour with 4 more planned!

Pure Evil:

Watch out for big fat hermaphrodites with flock of seagull haircuts..

(and only one nostril) If you havent been exposed to at least a few of his songs then you realy havent experience true genius. His ability to take an idea and totally warp it is only surpassed by his ability to do it in proper tempo to others works. Still havent personally had the chance to be bless with a live show, but will grab at any chance to hear anything new by him or just spend time relistening to the rest

JK:

Al's a genius

Sadly, the style of Weird Al's music ensures his talent will never be acknowledged. The end results may be silly, but there aren't to many who'll work harder than Al does. Watch the backwards scene in the Amish Paradise video for that...

mickey:

pretty fly for a rabbi.

son of accordionists, he's been around since jesus was a jewish carpenter. and will continue to produce the kind of laughter that erupts from the innocent clever chortles into the flowing lava of sidesplitting guffaws. he is a true talent.

Laura's way behind!!:

Oh, boy!

I've been listening to Weird Al since my oldest brother started buying his cassettes in the late 80's, early 90's!! There's no way on this green earth that you can listen to his songs and not bust out laughing.

J. Andrew World:

The begining to my downward spiral to becoming a fruhead

It began with me listening to Weird Al. I listened to his Parodies which are like time capsuls for the 80's and 90's. I became facinated with novelty music and Weird al was the most easily accssesable one. Dare To Be Stupid is my Favorate Album.

angelmusicmaven:

TIGHT, TIGHT live show. He signed the only thing I had on me to sign... a copy of an Onion article called "Totally Hot Chick Also Way Psycho." We both got a good chuckle out of it. :)

Nathan:

Weird Al was my first musical obsession, and while there are now other bands and artists I like better, Al still holds a special place in my heart. Really funny, and his original songs are often even better than his direct parodies.

Prince of Orange:

Of all the artists I like, "Weird Al" is the one that I've been a fan of the longest at a consistantly high level of fandom. Sure, there were others from the early 80s that I've since outgrown and consider a guilty pleasure at best (Hall & Oates, Huey Lewis, Billy Joel), but I still enjoy Al's work as much now as I did then. Some folks might call me immature for admitting to liking him. Let them! I don't care, Al's humor is awesome and his band has some really good chops. Those that think otherwise get to drink from...THE FIREHOSE!
