irish folk-rock, with hints of other cultures woven in.

very high-energy, very talented quintet of musicians (they tour with violin and accordion, too!) along the same lines as great big sea, in some respects. they have a new album coming out this fall; till then, tide yourself over with molinos, their last release.

Josh Woodward:

Very fun stuff..

These guys are a lot of fun, and an amazing live band. Half celtic, half pop, and half rock. :-)

Ken Perschke:

Rock/Pop with very heavy doses of celtic. Amazing!!!

These guys have very strong celtic roots and they're not afraid to show it! Another FRFF discovery. These guys have more fun on stage than people in the audience. I wish I had more from them!

not that you care:

i was feeling a bit down at Falcon Ridge...

but when the Paperboys came out... i felt all good inside again. they can work wonders. go figure.

Bruce Rose:

Limited experience... but all of it GOOD

My Paperboys experience is limited to Falcon Ridge 2001, but I loved what I heard. Irish flavored rock with hints of folk and outstanding instrumentation mark the Paperboys as some truly yummy stuff!

Michael (foof) Maki:

Great Celtic-rooted rock/pop/traditional music

Plus, they maintain the "Cute-Canadian-Bassist" rule!

Andrea Krause:

Music that gets you going

I love the Paperboys. Their songs, whether happy or sad, are still infused with a great deal of energy. I love having the pop/rocky songs intertwined with traditional reels and the like on one album. I always appreciate a band that can look forward while keeping part of themselves tied to their roots. And add Pound a Week Rise to the list of cathartic/angry work songs. Aww yeah!

Gordondon son of Ethelred:

Celtic Rock

I"m a sucker for Celtic Rock, just check my other recommendations. I had heard their music then saw them live at FRFF. Three cheers.

bee:

not your average news carrier

the paperboys are awesome. and while they aren't called the paper "persons", there are girls in the group. if you like celtic music and pop/rock, you'll love the paperboys...hey they cover the beatles, they must be cool!

It's a girl!:

They do the *best* version of "All Along The Watchtower"

J. Andrew World:

They call it Stomp!

I first Saw the paperboys in 1997 at the Taste of Northampton. They totally rocked my world, but didn't buy there album then...Later that day I went to the Iron Horse and to see Moxy Frvous, and geuss who Opened for them? That's right the Canadain Sixtet known as the Paperboys. Threw the years I saw them many more times, it has gotten to the Point where Tom Landa always says high to me after shows (*THAT* makes me feel special). and Dispite the constant change to the Line up, they still rock and ever new member adds something to the Ansamble!

Nicole the Wonder Nerd:

Give 'em a tip! :)

All right, the Paperboys! Their latest album (Postcards) is the kind of stuff that gives world music a good name--Latin/Celtic that *works*. I think I still like _Molinos_, their second album, best--lots of *great* original rock'n'reel, mixed with some terrific session tunes. It's a rare Celtic band that excels at both boundary-pushing originals and trad tunes. This is one of them, and IMHO, one of the best out there.
