Kat Kunz:

a girl with a guitar. oh, yeah, and she's really talented, too.

check out her newest, you were here... there's not a song on it i don't love. great alto voice with catchy melodies you'll find stuck in your head hours later. at least, that's what happened to me.

Misch:

Basement Apartment, good single from "you were here"

"Sarah Harmer is gorgeous, talented, impassioned, calming, metaphysical, enchanting, constructive, realistic, amazing, numbing, well-versed, mellifluous and extremely irresistible. And that's just her singing." - Lowdown Magazine

Andrea Krause:

Quirky catchy songs and marvelous stage presence

Sarah's songs DO get stuck in your head for hours...and days... Her newest album really is amazing. Hideout rocks.

chris q murphy:

incredible live show

spent a weekedn watching her open for fruvous - she and her live band rocked!!! she can sing and writ elike no one's business

Gigi Omar:

she should be on a shreddies box

you know how periodically you see athletes graceing the cover of cereal boxes? Sarah should be there. Especially for her song 'king lion' It captures the essence of being a kid.

Anita Szostak:

"You Were Here" has been released in America

I was so excited to find Sarah's CD the other day in Tower Records in New Releases. So if you didn't get one at the shows she played with Fruvous you can get one now. :)

hkath:

yum yum Sarah

That's all. Just yum yum. :) It has many meanings.

I wouldn't change a thing about this one.

Another talented "Sarah". You Were Here is EASILY, no questions asked, the best album released in 2000. It's a little glowing gem. Sarah just has this cool, laid back, fascinating commentary on the world, a good observer. Gorgeous melodies that you're bound to be singing along with. She works hard--buy her stuff.

frukid:

I saw her on my birthday w/Fruvous...and her bass player is cute...

I thought Sarah Harmer was pretty awesome when she opened for Fruvous in June when I saw her. I don't remember any songs she played except Uniform Grey..which took me almost a whole day to track down on Napster...hopefully I'll get the CD one day.

njskedder:

Very good song writing. I saw her open for Fruvous twice. I bought her cd and could not stop listening to it!! I saw her again in Collingswood, NJ at a free show. This day was also my introduction to Paul Thorn. Well, I guess I better start a new review for him. I can't wait fro Sarah to release another one!!!!

Shannon's in NC:

Yet another great artist I've discovered through Fruvous!

After seeing her open for Fruvous in Cincy and then again with Sarah Slean and Tory Cassis in Buffalo, I've become hooked. "You Were Here" is an amazing album that anyone who loves singer/songwriters should buy. My favorite track is Hideout...very catchy.

Squee:

Yaaaaaaaaay Sarah!

Great beat to all her stuff, fun jazzy alto voice, witty lyrics and stuff!

I can see the bunny:

folk/pop with an edge

This woman is amazing - let's be honest. The former singer for the band Weeping Tile has gone solo & boy does her album "You Were Here" ever blow me away! She also does vocals for a song on the new album for Luther Wright and the Wrongs (started by Weeping Tile's former guitar player). Get this - a country version of Pink Floyd's the Wall album, titled "Rebuilding the Wall. Sarah does vocals on the song "Mother".

Megan can't believe it:

Beautiful, earthy voice--and man, can she handle a guitar.

Go Sarah. I saw her open for Fruvous last summer, and watched her take a crowd at Cleveland's Odeon--at which about 95 percent had never heard of her--and gradually get them in the palm of her hand. "You Were Here" is amazing and though based largely on folk, adds nice electric guitar in places, among other goodies. Her songs are singable, often quirky, and I confess, like Kat, that they stay in your head for hours. Anyone with the opportunity to see her in an intimate setting should, because chances are her touring with BNL summer 2001 will definitely turn all eyes on her.

Bruce Rose:

Beyond fabulous!

Agreed, Sarah Harmer is amazing! You Were Here has all the ingredients of a timeless album: Great songwriting, great musicianship, great vocals, and complete obscurity from pop radio. This is without question one of the best CD's in my collection. If you don't have You Were Here, there's something terribly wrong with you.

J. Andrew World:

It took me a whille to appreciate her. It also took her a whille to get to where she was at. When I first saw her in the spring of `99 I was not impressed. One year later she had improved vastly and added a band. Now she stands well on her own. I enjoyed my last trip to Canada seeing her album on the top 20 CDs with Britney, N*SYNC, Destany's Child, and Great Big Sea? Yes Great big Sea. Plus I told the people at the record store that Sarah Harmer isn't that big in the states and she just plays small clubs, I had some people really surprised by that.

goovie is married!:

i miss my copy of "you were here"

Not just another Canadian chick named Sarah. She has genuine talent and writes some beautiful and catchy songs. Listening to "Lodestar" or "Hideout" or "Uniform Grey" can always turn my whole day around.

Rhi: so confused:

I first heard Sarah off the Men With Brooms soundtrack and was blown away. It did not take me long to purchase her debut solo album.

I fell in love with "You Were Here" overnight; her songwriting is beautiful and her voice much the same. I can only say this-- "Lodestar" is a masterpiece.
