Craqhed O'Reilly:

When classically-trained musicians decided they needed to folk out...

You've probably heard the song "Cathedrals" on your local Adult Alternative station, which is what happened to me. The dang song was haunting, catchy, lyrical, and full of sonic waves crashing on my mental beach. So I listened to the song over and over and... you know, that kind of music. Then I hit the web site and found all sorts of absurd stories and even more cool songs. These guys are worth hunting down.

Mike "Racer" Yoshioka:

mmmMMMmmm J L C

The new CD , Magazine , is a great CD to throw in and just let it play right through. There is songs for all moods, and all types of listeners. This is the CD that I put in when I can't think of anything to listen to.

Andrea Krause:

Poppy rocky fun-filled and energetic.

I love this band. A lot. Magazine truly is a start-to-finish marvel of music. I love how multi-instrumental this band is. And they are a joy to see live...even if you are fearing that the upright bass will in fact maim someone. :) I saw this band open for Great Big Sea and was actually hoping the opener would suck. (I didn't want to buy more CDs!) Thankfully, I was wrong. The CDs Buzz and Licorice Tea Demos are excellent as well. Easter Parade is possibly my favorite song of theirs.

elizabeth:

i love it

I bought the cd today on a whim.. I haven't done that in a really long time. I had never heard them (besides their backing vocals for the Nields)... so I popped it in, and I loved the cd all the way through. Definitely reccomended!!

chris q murphy:

i love my guitar

Rachel Seebacher:

everything and everything, a real party for the ecletic eardrum

on first glance, they appear to be the quintessential boy band...but those who judge on first glance are idiots. They use an upright base, and have a cellist. one of the singers plays the tin whistle, the accordian, and the mandolin. Their sound is fresh, and different. They can be anything from punk to folk to irish. And, an added bonus is that they are awesome in concert and their mascot is underdog!

Vertigo - Musical Masterpiece

Jump has a new cd out called "Vertigo" and it is sure to fuel the fire of any current fans as well as ignite the flames of jump virgins.

lawrence:

amazing

I'm surprised I hadn't already written a review here. but it's never too late. I just saw them for the second time last night and they rocked again. I especially loved how they played cell phone ring tones into their guitars.

goovie is married!:

what mike said...

Magazine is truly one of those CDs that has something for everyone. Haunting ballads like "Cathedrals" or "Say Goodnight," hard-rocking songs like "Come Out Clean" or "Not Today," bizarro beat-rap stuff like "Body Parts"... One of the few bands that I've been able to convert a family member to.

ellen, formerly evil:

JLC rock the has
I went to a JLC show on a whim, having seen only these other reveiws, and I was blown away! Their sound is full and melodic and their accordion player is really something else! :) Oh yeah, and get 'Magazine' 'cuz it's really good!

Jody:

I don't know about this band. They have moments, but that is all. Good moments can make a band, though.
