Blues that Rock

When a friend sends you a cd of her band you get nervous. What if they rot? I had no need to worry. Dusty Shoes really rock. Jlie does sound like Janis and Rod is a monster on the guitar. I can't wait to see them live.

renita:

Good good stuff...

Well I first heard the Dusty Shoes when they opened for Jim Byrnes :) It was an excellent show... and then Well I figured I should get a cd - since I helped Julie drop it off at the copier place.... And I LOVE IT!

Arbie:

Julie tells stories interupted by great music :-)

I have been to see Rod and Julie's band twice now, both at the same small coffee house venue. They perform a very eclectic mix of blues styles and requested covers. There is very serious talent evident in all three of them, Rod's guitar work is outstanding, Julie has a nice voice for blues singing, particularly when the key allows her to stay out of her head voice, and she has a good feel for blues phrasing. And she manages to play drums at the same time....I know, Jian does too, but I find that amazing too. The cd, though not high on fancy production values gives a good indication of what they can do, if you like blues and want to hear some well played original music I would recommend you buy it.

Mistress Rabean:

Blues today with a 90% chance of banter.

Well, I had the pleasure of seeing Julie's and Rod's band twice at the same small coffee house with my fiance. Anyone who can sing a Janis Joplin song that well has my respect and adoration. :) I don't listen to the blues much, but I do like this band.

BassAce:

More shameless self promotion.....

ok, I can't toot my own horn that blatantly, but this will get the number of recommendations up, and I guess thats the point after all, is it not??

Kat Kunz:

props to my frlie!

...and her husband and bassist, too. dusty shoes band + party = fun! i can say that from personal experience. good music even for the fairweather blues listener, as i tend to be. and who doesn't love a canadian band, eh?
