Reviews:

Brian Dinsky:

SOMETIMES compared to Fruvous concerts.

It's a very hard comparison, but with the jams and the following crowd, Fruvous and Phish are alike in concert and SOME songs. Can't you just picture Fruvous singing Fee?

chris q murphy:

i am not alone!!!!

i saw these guys three times live - it ruled - truth be told, these guys are twice the players than the frulads are - but not as cool - big time music theory geeks, very wide range, buy 'rift'

Anita Szostak:

Of course your not...

Phish are great musicians who played the best jams I've heard outside of the Grateful Dead but truthfully can't be compared to either Fruvous or the Dead. Phish have their own brand of funk, rock, blues and other influences all rolled up into one fantastic package. See them live..it's the only way to appreciate them

Josh Woodward:

Jam music at its best..

They are not the Dead. If you try to pretend they are, you'll be disappointed. Phish is their own thing, and it's a very good thing in my opinion. What I wouldn't give to hear Fruvous occasionally go off in the middle of a song with a musical segue into another song, leading back to the first song at the end of the set. Ahhh :-)

Amanda Wilson:

There is nothing like a Phish show

"This is what Phish is like!" --Jian after a Fruvous "jam" "Um, they do this a *lot* better than we do." --Dave in response to Jian The thing about their show is that it's huge, and to be a part of that many people who are so into something is remarkable. Phish can vary from rock to swing; from fusion to bluegrass. The genre- switching is only real comparison I find to Fruvous Phish plays with a great affection for the music and the crowd, plus their lighting guy rocks the house. Avoid the studio albums and go catch a show.

Anthony Pierce:

I've been on tour....

Phish is without a doubt the most talented band out there today. There isn't a thing they can't do. I've followed them around for the past two summers and there is nothing like it. There are a few things I can compare Fruvous to phish with. Both bands are composed of well rounded, extremely intelligent people and they both know how to put on an incredible live show. Other than that there isn't much.

Mosch:

Not just for stoners anymore...

Phish is just incredible jam music, fun and funky, and they put on a great live show. Grab an album or better yet, a live tape, or better yet, a ticket to their next show that's near you.

elizabeth:

im a fan of their studio work

as well as their live stuff, though i've never had the oppurtunity to see them live. but I really love "billy breathes", "rift" and "farmhouse". especially the song "dirt"

Adam Prestin:

Incredible

Great studio works and an incredible live show. Too hard to describe, just check them out. Being high may help for those with short attention spans.

Alex Prestin:

Soft, quiet folk with a jazzy twist

At least sometimes... Can't wait till these guys start touring again, I wanna go see a live show.

trampy john:

the musical influence of the decade

i attribute every musical taste i have now to the very first moment i heard phish, including Fruvous... phish replaces your expectations of music and rewards you with a new soul. yeah, it's just that good :)

nate...:

I became a huge fan back in the early 90's listening to live tapes. Then started going to shows.

The amount of musical talent in this group is astounding. They can do anything. Please get past the stigma of a "hippie band"... because they are much much more.

Sure, the lyrics are generally goofy... but there is no other band that can make you just close your eyes and melt into the ground for hours while listening to them.
Absolutely phenomenal.

Jerrilyh:

After to listening to Stealing Time From The Faulty Plan, my mom and I can't stop laughing when we hear, "got a blank space where my mind should be."
