Reviews:

Kerri Chyka:

ethereal wistful folk-pop-rock

From the acoustic simplicity of "Either/Or" (with many songs found on the Good Will Hunting sdtk) to his most recent piano-infused "Figure 8," Elliott Smith demonstrates that he is the guru of the nostalgic, honest, and singable tune.

not that you care:

wow

i feel in love with elliott smith the first time i heard him. i wish i had more CDs so that i could say more about him. but nothing beats checking it out yourself. go, do it. you know you want to... everybody else is doing it... c'mon. =)

m. badass:

haunting old-school ballads with a bitter edge

elliott's acoustic guitar and piano songs remind me of nothing so much as old-school country (you know, back when it was *good*) with only the slightest tinges of rock, but his layered, ethereal vocals and harsh, sad lyrics give it a modern spin while simultaneously sending chills down my spine.

mickey:

made good will hunting even better.

because of elliott, that movie is a classic. and as a non-soundtrack artist, he crafts mellow (though not as much on his latest, figure 8), guitar-and-vocal sweetnesses. he's like that quiet friend of yours who drops subtle but certain a-bombs every so often. watch your ears.

Andi De Chantale:

Elliott is the greatest

Elliott is the best there is, period. His music has touched my life so profoundly since the first time I heard Either/Or. There are no words that I can use to accurately describe the beauty or Elliott & his music........I can only say that he's my one & only. :)

Mollie:

Beatley folk singer

His cover of the Beatles' "Because" played over the credits of "American Beauty." He's really wonderful.

Paul D. Beasi:

An amazing songwriter, just getting hooked now.
