Review of "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" |
Information:What's the movie's name? O Brother, Where Art Thou? What genre is this film?Comedy Give a short summary of this movie:Chain gangs, pomade, and G Cloo Reviews:Loosely (I mean really loosely) based on Homer's Oddessy, this is one of the Coen brothers' broadest appealing films - good music, great acting, and reasonably linear story line. George Clooney really shines. This film is a joyride. Ride it. Really fun. Not quite as Odyssey-like as I was expecting, it is a romp, even, through the South with really good music, and really fun characters. Well worth it. jaye: "Oh, George! Not the livestock!"
Pretty Odyssey-like considering that no major participants in the project had -read- said epic poem, a musical for people who hate musicals, and an all around good time. "is you is or is you ain't mah constichinsy!"
Such a great movie... didn't even care for Clooney till I saw this, and I dig him big time now... the entire cast is great... cool movie!!! Best movie ever! Oh so quotable! And it features a Busby Berkley-inspired KKK rally... need I say more?
"Do... Not... Seek... The... Treasure!" "We... Thought... You... Was... A... Toad!" "Do... Not... Seek... The... Treasure!" You really have to pay attention when you watch this movie. It's like the simpsons, there are all these extrememly subtle yet hilarious one liners in here. I recommend that when you watch it for the third or fourth time that you put on subtitles. You'll pick up a lot more that way. So good. So funny. And such great music. Anyone else think that the KKK acted a lot like the Winkie Guards in Wizard Of Oz? Anything by the Coens is great. Deal with it. The best adaptation of The Odyssey set in the depression. And Gillian Welch is in it for 3 seconds! To rate this, log in.
