Crimes and Misdemeanors: Woody Allen�s most disturbing film. It tells the story of a man brought by circumstances to murder his mistress and his lack of remorse. Despite the dark subject matter it still manages to be funny with a brilliant performance by Martin Landau as the murderer.

One of Allen's best - a beautifully told tale of how evil goes unpunished (and perhaps is rewarded) and bad things happen to good people. It presents a very secular Jewish perspective - he looks at these things and realizes that there is no reward in a next life, nor punishment in this life, yet is still compelled by his concience to do what's right. Amazing underscoring work - the music is the real star of this film. Poignant, painful, funny. A great film.
