Review of "Susan Werner" |
Information:What's the band's name? Susan Werner What's the album's name?I can't be new Reviews:Ah Susan . . .please stop smoking. And please get a better producer or something. This album had such great potential, and when you sing these songs live, you sound pretty damn good. But the soulfulness, cabaret style, and torchy qualities are all lost on the recording. It sounds like you never sing more than three notes. Gone are the days of those trills and swings and dips you used to take on "Maybe if I sang Cole Porter," as if you were tangoing with the song. Now you just kind of walk with it and absent-mindedly hold its hand. (Though I did like the old-timey effect) I still think you're awesome, but I was disappointed with this album. everything lauren said.
i miss old-skool susie. Very disappointing.... I mean, it still has some pretty good songs, but as a whole I don't even listen to this album after my initial attempt to love it.
Just too ... i don't know... loungy? I really do love Susan's piano songs, but something seriously got lost in the translation to the album. With the exception of a couple of songs, this album was definitely the biggest disappointment of 2004 for me. To rate this, log in.
