Phil Sandifer:

There is a strange lack of variation in Great Big Sea's efforts. I am not accusing them of always sounding the same . I mean, they do, but I'm perfectly willing to listen to whatever they've decided to call "Ordinary Day" this time. They record a perfectly good album every time they hit the studio. Yes, it's the same perfectly good album every time, but it's still perfectly good. And as this and Something Beautiful show, that doesn't change if they record all original material or all traditional material.

The way I see it, I'd rate Turn an 8 and Sea of No Cares a 6, so this must be a 7. And "Ordinary Day" is just as much fun when it's about evil sea captains and called "Captain Kidd."

K-Lyn:

I dig the return to 'traditional' songs. Not that I don'tdig what they write but this is a fun album I can listen to all the way through without whiplash. Can't wait for the tour!

J McClure:

I'm a big fan of Great Big Sea, but this album hasn't done much for me. A couple of the tracks really stand out, but I think I prefer their last couple of efforts.

Paul D. Beasi:

Better than their last album, but still not their best.
