Poll: What did you think of A Christmas Story?

In the last week I discovered that two of my friends had never even heard of A Christmas Story. One of them even lives on this planet. So now I'm curious. How many of you have seen it and what did you think of it? I think it is the second greatest holiday film ever, right after It's A Wonderful Life. Others must agree with me. How many other films are shown 24 hours straight like TNT shows it every year?

Nothing like a good Canadian film for Ted Turner to run for 24 hours straight on Christmas day! :D

I can't believe I didn't mention Jean Shepherd in my initial post. Now that you mentioned the book I will. Shep has been a hero of mine since adolescence. He had a radio show in New York for about a million years. He'd tell stories some of which were pasted together to make A Christmas Story. He was an original and irreplaceable. In the film he is the narrator and plays Santa and a guy at the department store.

It's a good story, but not the greatest Christmas movie. Definitely in the top ten though.
