   Discussion: amelie stuffs.
emilie is CRANKY · 21 years, 3 months ago

ever seen the film amelie? :) you know how they list random quirky things each character likes or dislikes? for example:

raphael poulain dislikes peeing next to someone else;
amandine doesn't like pillow marks on her face in the morning;
suzanne doesn't like seeing men humiliated in front of their children;
gina likes cracking her knuckles;
hipolito likes seeing bullfighters gored on tv;
philomene's cat likes hearing children's stories.

(and of course, the only thing joseph likes is popping bubble wrap. :D)

name a couple of random quirky things you like or dislike. just because it's fun. yeah. :)

Jay army:

- The feeling of walking outside on a cold crisp day, and breathing in that first lung full of air.
- Sleeping in the cold with lots of warm heavy blankets.
- Watching a plant or other living thing respond in different ways depending on the conditions you create for it.
- Waking up next to becca and being able to snuggle up close to her and smell her hair. *dorky smile*
- The smell of butter in a pan sizzling
- Being able to help.
- Lying alone on the roof of my car under a full moon and just thinking.

Jay no army pass:

- People who go the same speed as the car they're passing.
- Males who think it increases the size of their penis to "peel out" or to have their bass so loud that it rattles my windows.
- Hypocrites
- People who always think they are superior and/or can't admit they're wrong.
- People who force their beliefs on others.

I am Zacques.

I like listening to frog calls at night; especially Western Chorus Frogs.

I like making inside jokes to people who I have never met and realizing that they understand them. (e.g. - Saying "Once...I was the king of Spain," and having someone respond, "But now you eat humble pie?")

I like saying the words "serendipity", "epiphany", "cirtcuitous", "superfluous", "conundrum", "plethora", "conflagration", and "somnambulism"

I like suddenly realizing that I am not the only one who appreciates works like The Catcher in the Rye and The Bell Jar.

I especially like when I find people besides myself who enjoy movies like Amlie

I dislike a majority of the student body at my school

I dislike overhearing people who ridicule freethinkers or show utter contempt for nature

I dislike rediculously freezing temperatures.

I dislike public restrooms. I always feel uncomfortable and therefore rarely use them.

I dislike the sound of someone snapping their fingers at me so as to rush me along at anything. God that annoys me.

I dislike a prerecorded voice telling me that I have one minute remaining in my conversation with Amy.

I dislike itching. My love of nature and allergy to poison ivy makes such an event quite common.

I need to mention how jealous I am of the really good ones that I wish I'd done. like the flat corner on the soap.  I hate that. but on with the show:

I dig:
-Leaving pennies on the ground for other people to find, so they can have good luck
-Walking into strange apartment buildings and smelling that weird smell.
-Headlights moving over the walls as I lie in bed at night
-Freshly cleaned eyeglasses
-Scratches and cuts that I cannot recall recieving
-Sticking my finger into someones mouth when they yawn
-Tickling the soft pads on the feet of cats and dogs while they're trying to sleep
-The two or three seconds after I scratch the hell out of a mosquito bite
-Crunchng the ice that forms on the tops of puddles
-Those thick, long hairs that grow out of moles.
-Finishing other peoples sentences
-Picking up the phone to find the peson I was about to call had just called but the phone hadn't rung yet.
-Pulling enourmous gobs of sleep-stuff out of my eyes.
-Walking through the squishy mud in a lake and feeling the seaweed scratch across my shins

I detest:
-That last little jolt as the  elevator cars lines itself up with the floor.
-The cereal crumbs at the bottom of the bag
-When someone several steps ahead of me stops to hold a door for me and I feel like I have to rush to grab it for myself.
-Toilet paper that rips before I want it to.
-How the crotch on long johns always sits about midthigh
-Not being able to close the top of things with 'flip caps' due to all the built up gobs of dried toothepaste/ketchup/whatever
-Slices of pizza that can't keep their toppings on
-Wasting a really good flat rock on a bad skip
-Not being able to get up in the morning because I slept on my arms and they're both completely dead from the shoulders down

-losing a really good sneeze
-Other people finishing my sentences, especially when they're wrong.
