Just thought I would let you all know I had a Murray sighting this weekend. I went to see Great Big Sea in St. Catherines. He did a great job.
I have enjoyed Fruvous for years now but never really posted on here. I saw a few fruheads there.
He seems to really fit in up there. It is great. Did anyone else go?
I'd just like to put in a gripe that GBS never EVER comes to Chicago. They've even played in Texas, where NO one else tours, but noooo Chicago shows. *sigh*
i agree with angel...i miss gbs!
and thanks to sarah (or josh, if you did it) for deleting part of the initial post...that kind of gossipping isn't really appropriate here. but gbs and murray talk is, so fire away! :)

Wait! There was inappropriate gossiping and I MISSED it? :(
sorry, a.j. you'll have to make up your own instead. :)
AJ has sex with sheep.
Or so I heard...
Sheep are just the tip of the iceberg!
no he doesn't. Gella's just being baaaaaaaah'd.
Oh, you *SO* move the big chair in the little truck for that!
Yeah, ewe would do that.
At least you've stoped trying to pull the wool over everyone's eyes ;-)
*runs away. far. far. away*

forty bucks? for a gbs show? no way.
$30 american in Buffalo (ticketbastard and their fees).
It was outside and I could've just stood across the street with binoculars to see them. The sound was so damn loud. They seemed to be turning it up with every song and it was bouncing off the buildings.
Yikes. I saw them for free in NJ two years ago this past July. I think the most I ever paid for a show of theirs was $15 US. Maybe less.
I guess keeping Murray is expensive for them. ;)
Funny tho ... the noise factor *really* bothered me the last 2-3 times I saw them ... they seemed to lose any shred of tunefulness as they started getting louder and louder. Which is largely *why* I haven't bothered to see them for 2 years. Murray or not, I want music for my ticket price, not just Alan bellowing.
And you couldn't hear any of the damn songs it was so loud.
The faster the song, the louder it got.
It doesn't need to be that loud to enjoy it with ears ringing afterwards.

I think the last show they played in TO was $50
Yeah, my boyfriend (a Newfie... and he doesn't mind being called that) has complained endlessly that GBS was "their" band until they sold out, charging Newfoundlanders (and everyone else) an arm and a leg. Poor... um... everyone but GBS apparently.
Anyone who charges over $20 for a show is a goddamn theif.

its sickening. ive seen them a few times for free, or paid a modest price, theres no way im paying forty bucks to see them. i could hear them from my house anyway!! i forgot murray was playing with them; i would have stuck around to say hi. that night me and some friends were bar hopping downtown, right around where they played. foof to that. i could have used a murray sighting :) btw, im a newfie too and it bugs the hell out of me that they are charging so much now. then again, its not all entirely up to them. but they played in a parking lot GARAGE for chrissake. come on. last year for grape and wine matthew good was 20 bucks in comparison. i got free tickets from my dad's friend, but gave them away because i hate matthew good! jen
I just found out that the Worms are playing the Vogue theatre in Vancouver. Nice venue, butgood seats are....get this....$80! To see the Worms?! No way~ I'll wait until March and see them at Capilano College and get there early to get good seats. Even the cheapest seats are $30. I know they don't set the prices - all acts are the same prices, I think, but does anyone really think Worms fans will pay $80??!
$80?!?!!?
I think I paid $12 to see them last year.

i think the last time i saw them was less than $10, because i was a student. *boggle*
I saw them for free in Bethlehem. And I"m seeing them for free in Dover this new years. :)
I saw them for free the week after frcon III in Bowling Green.
Last year, they were playing in Toledo the same night as DVN was in Dayton. Calling the Toledo show solved that conflict though: $38 a ticket...
...for the arrogant worms...
...huh?
I actually asked him twice, because I couldn't believe that.
Yay for Bethlehem Musikfest! They didn't cost much in Allentown when they opened for EFO, either -- and that theatre in Allentown is a really nice venue.
"Free* in Dover?!! What's that about? I don't see it on their schedule.
just to play devil's advocate, it could simply be the difference in gbs' style from the fruvous style that folks find "loud". i mean, there's a reason their U.S. release "rant and roar" wasn't named "strum and hum."
;)
also, with regards to price, always check with the venue FIRST. robin and i saw murray and gbs opening for cowboy mouth in baton rouge a couple weeks ago, and we circumvented the tickbastard surcharges by just buying them directly from the venue. not everyone does it, but you have to check. in the end, we saw two great bands for US$40 combined. considering the intimate venue and the quality of show, that was a STEAL.
