Early, mid, or Late 90s one-hit wonders that rocked your world.

Discussion: Early, mid, or Late 90s one-hit wonders that rocked your world.

I would have to say some of my favorite one-hit wonders, as defined here by ONE HIT ONLY on POP RADIO are:

Toni Tony Tone - Let's Get Down

New Radicals You get what you give

Um... I don't know what else.

they were in th US but not in the UK! we had lots and lots fo them particularly round my neck of the woods...if  it is the same act i am thinking of...
sheryls Back · 18 years, 6 months ago

yesyes i know i know!!! they're from Manchester, i think?

*hearts* i had ONE OPPORTUNITY to see them and i missed it by 5 minutes, due to traffic. the 1997 lollapalooza tour. i got there as they were striking set and setting up for KORN. omg korn :( teh sadness.

i love them love them love them. i have everything they've put out that i could get my grubby hands on. after the lolla tour, they lost their US record deal and never toured here again.

my sisters were going to send me to england to see them as a graduation present. then they broke up right before i graduated o.O

*teh sad*

Spin Doctors... Two Princes...

Blind Melon - No Rain ... ok, they're not technically a one-hit wonder as far as I'm concerned.. but that's really the only song people know by them.. so that counts.. I guess.
A.J. Back · 18 years, 6 months ago
The Spin Doctors had more hits than that.
K. D. Lurker Back · 18 years, 6 months ago
Indeed...if I remember correctly, "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong" was a pretty big hit before "Two Princes," and I know there was at least one more...

I have their album somewhere...Along with Right Said Fred's (And Lisa Loeb and the list goes on and on). Alas, I was one to buy CDs based on one song. I was a slave to mainstream radio growing up. *sigh*
sheryls Back · 18 years, 6 months ago
i used to have it. i do have lisa loeb. and Edie Brickell. i bought green day based on one song (although i love their whole catalogue now ;)..i also, at one point, had Harvey Danger's album - for FLAGPOLE SITTA! w00t.

I may or may not have posted about little pink starts by radish. I lve it when i was fifteen and managed to overlook the line "I want to feel you from the inside" quite succesfully. I know Ben Kweller does great stuff now and radish had other hits but in the Uk that was the only top twenty or even thirty hit. They played it on Radio 1. I just have trouble with this computer as it does not like the post message feature and auto complete keeps sending me to hotmale.com!
nate... Back · 18 years, 6 months ago
ben kweller was in radish???

Huh.
I shall have to listen to him sometime... as I liked a lot of radish stuff.
nate... Back · 18 years, 6 months ago
oh... and.... it's funny that "i want to feel you from the inside" was in two different songs in approx the same time period... that, and Closer by NIN.

"Breakfast at Tiffany's," Deep Blue Something

Also, "All for You," Sister Hazel

I'm sure there are a ton more. I'll get back to you.
Wintress Back · 18 years, 6 months ago

"Who's this song by?"

"I dunno, I have a hard time remembering it.  Oh, wait.  That's right.  Deep Blue Something."

"Wow.  That bad, eh?"

"No no, the name of the band is Deep Blue Something."

"Yeah, but to not be able to remember Deep Blue WHAT, that's bad..."

"Save Tonight"--I was all about that song.

goovie is married! Back · 18 years, 6 months ago
bah. eagle-eye cherry was so the wal-mart version of ben harper.
goovie is married! Back · 18 years, 6 months ago
eee! "everything falls apart." i'd totally forgotten about that song, but i used to love it.
angelmusicmaven · 18 years, 6 months ago
School of Fish "Three Strange Days."
GREAT guitar riff. Hard to believe that guitarist ended up in the Wallflowers by hearing how guitar-thick SoF was.
And the singer Josh Clayton-Felt was so cute. We lost him to cancer barely past the age of 30. Sigh.

Some people here would also say Dem Amitri's "Roll To Me" was their hit but they ued to get airplay with "Kiss This Thing Goodbye," too. Love them.
