Murray and his Fridge

   Discussion: Murray and his Fridge
Mamalissa! · 19 years, 7 months ago
Murray and his fridge are featured in the premier issue of Viva Magazine! From what I understand, Viva Magazine is a new Canadian environmental/healthy living magazine. A friend got a copy of the first issue because they may be doing an article about her business. She starts turning the pages, and what does she find but an article called "Murray Foster: Food for a rock star lifestyle" (!!!!!!) Apparently, he's super healthy at home, but on the road eats way too much grease. I don't have time now but if folks are interested I can type up the article later. Unfortunately, there's no website for the magazine yet. And I've only got a fax copy, so I can't really share the pics - though I'm sure they'd be adorable if they weren't black blobs!

I use it on an almost daily basis. Does that make me "in denial??"

In the latest issue of Shameless (a fantastic feminist young women's magazine), you get to see him in a cowboy hat. *nods*

What's in Your Fridge?
Murray Foster
Food for a rock star lifestyle
By Julie Daniluk R.H.N.

Hemp seeds are packed with protein and good fats like omega 3 that help balance his immune system on the road. He might consider an EFA supplement that has a perfect balance of omega 3,6 and 9, good fats.

Green coffee beans will never go stale while he is away. He can roast it up fresh when he is home for a perfect brew.

Chicken and spinach organic pizza with 75 per cent less fat and fewer carbs than regular frozen pizza gives him a fun fast meal without the compromising ingredients found in the fast food on tour.

Red peppers contains 360 mg of vitamin C that will help him handle those long flights and smoky environments.

Live organic yogurt has a good shelf life and will keep his digestive tract humming after living on tour.

An active formula multivitamin for men is the perfect choice for his lifestyle as it gives him the extra zinc and B-vitamins he needs for a life on the road.

Occupation: Bass player for Great Big Sea
Age: 37
Secret food vice: Chips
Comfort food: Soy milk with ancient grain high fibre cereal (A+ choice)
Lifestyle: Split reality. On the road he eats too much grease. At home he is super healthy.
Challenge: Too lazy to make a salad
Solution: Buy pre-washed salad greens in a bag, add a natural dressing with omega 3 fats, a few baby carrots and cherry tomatoes to increase antioxidant veggies to seven servings a day.

Murray's a fellow home coffee roaster? I knew I picked the right people for a reason.
stealthlori · 19 years, 7 months ago
Yay for hemp seeds! So good, and such a yummy addition to almost anything.

And wow. He's made his way up to "handle those long flights" from "handle those unending highway miles". He really IS a Rock Star!

So... this is my first post here. Hi! (Why not show up a million years after the fact?) Sometimes I remember to come here and lurk.

Mostly I don't.

But today I had an epiphany while lurking. If anyone hasn't seen the above noted very pretty article, complete with pictures, I have a lovely ecopy.

Dunno how to post it though.
Mamalissa! Back · 19 years, 6 months ago
Hey Andy,

Do you have access to a scanner? Or, would you be interested in sending it to someone with access to a scanner?

Oh - and welcome! Congrats on the delurking! That wasn't so painful, was it?
Dolphin Back · 19 years, 6 months ago

Is this magazine available for sale any where yet? I looked for it before Christmas but couldn't find it anywhere.

Andy · 19 years, 6 months ago
Hey thanks! So far my transition to delurked status has been pain free. Of course, it's only been one post so far.

If there's a way to post pictures on here I can do that - I have a jpg of it.

I just need some instructions and off we go.

Easiest thing would be to put it on your profile. Go to "Customize Profile" and select "Add Personal Photos." Or, click here.

Also, remember to write back using the "reply" button.

Andy Back · 19 years, 6 months ago

I hit reply AND put the picture in my profile.

So how come when I hit reply I get this weird outlook thing that comes up? It scared me so much at first I kept running away from the site.

Oh well - behold Murray's Kitchen!

DO NOT FEAR THE RICH TEXT EDITOR.

i know, i feared it too at first.

anyway, haha, i wonder if all the food in there is always evenly-spaced out ;)

no. and half the time the refrigerator bins have fallen down on the shelves instead of being suspended on the shelf above them, because their holders are not sturdy enough to hang them once they are full of cheese and deli meat. none of which Murray eats, but anyway.

I know this because that IS my refrigerator. Same exact model. omgwtfbbqwmd!!!!!

Next time I'm at your house I'm taking something out of the refrigerator and thinking of Murray.
ChrisChin is Getting Old Back · 19 years, 6 months ago
I've turned off the rich text editor for quite some time, though I don't remember where the page is to turn it back on.
Mur_Maid · 19 years, 3 months ago
that's even MORE depressing...
