   Discussion: So...Hair product?

I just want to note I did not add the TSAM reference! :)

I almost never use any hair product. Mousse or hairspray once in a great while when I need my hair to stay...but most of the time I let it do what it wants.

<Erkel>Did I add that?</Erkel>

You're a bad bad man! My lofty and socially relevant poll is TAINTED, I tell ya!

Josh Woodward Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
I've killed any chance of contributing the wellbeing of future generations by tainting the only data we may ever have on the hair product habits of Fruheads. World War III is just around the corner now. I'll be in my bunker if anyone needs me.

Oh, and I use gel. Because if I didn't use something, I'd look like Don King.
Andrea Krause Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
Now that's a photoshop endeavor just waiting to happen. :)
sheryls Back · 19 years, 4 months ago

photoshop nothing, i have pictures of it somewhere i'm sure :P

ETA: i do ;) but i wont post without josh's permission :P

sheryls Back · 19 years, 4 months ago

the scary part is someone voted for that o.O

there's something to be said for all-natural products, i suppose.

I polish my bald spot.
Talcott · 19 years, 4 months ago
In fact, someone had to leave a subtle hint (ie: a bottle of the stuff) behind just to get me to use conditioner.

I've done hairspray/gel once or twice for Halloween, but that's the extent of it.
sheryls · 19 years, 4 months ago
i just had a whole rant about this :P

ever since putting layers in my hair, it can no longer be wash, condition, tie back, spray down flyaways and go.

now it's shampoo, condition, towel dry, tonic, straightner. walk around a bit and let air dry a bit. grooming cream, hair spray, flattening iron, more grooming cream, more iron, more hair spray, more iron, more hair spray, then styling wax.

o.O Bumble & Bumble owns me.
Andrea Krause Back · 19 years, 4 months ago

My hair is layers but I don't really go for straight so I don't do all that. (I think I'd like to try it straightened but I wouldn't know how to do it successfully and that sounds like so much work. :) ) I just let it air dry with its natural wave which works nicely with the layers. Or, if I want it less wild, I'll pull it back into a little knot when it's wet and then take it down later when it's dry and it's smooth but still wavy/flippy at the bottom. I'm as low maintenance as possible most of the time. :)

sheryls Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
yours are curly layers, tho, and mine are straight but with an odd body to them, like one huge hump-of-a-curl and then odd waviness at the bottom. air-drying only leads to mushroomheadery.

ha! I totally understand. I just plunked down $19 for some paul mitchell anti-frizz serum because my stylist used it after she cut my hair last week, and I'm hoping it was the product and not, like, her natural talent that made my hair look so nice. oh, and I also just bought a new "ceramic ion" hair dryer that's supposed to keep frizziness to a minimum.

..but if I let my hair air dry? it gets all gross and clingy to my scalp, curls erratically and still gets both frizzy and limp by the end of the day. BAH.

can we see? can we see? huh? huh?
Kat Kunz Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
ha! don't be misled--by "cut" I meant "less than two inches off the ends, unnoticed by all but the highly trained eye." but yeah, I'm remiss in having any new photos of myself up anyplace. I'll get on that.

I just throw a little squirt of 100% aloe gel in my hands and run my fingers through my hair.... keep my hair from being too crazy and it's all natural and doesn't get crusty.

Annika Back · 19 years, 4 months ago

It may be all natural, but it has that horrible aloe smell that reminds me of bandaid goo. *shudder*

I don't use any hair products. I used to but I realized that no matter what I put in my hair, within an hour my hair is all messy because I'm always doing something w/it. Either running my fingers through it, twisting it while spacing out, or braiding little chunks of it.

nate... Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
Nope.. no smell.
:)

Bruce Rose · 19 years, 4 months ago
Just shampoo. When you keep it as short as I do, you don't need anything else.
100% dainty! · 19 years, 4 months ago
I usually do nothing to my hair.

With the cut i have now, to make it all piecy and jagged and spiky, i put some "mud" in it. that's all.
Mamalissa! Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
I use actual mud.
nitsita · 19 years, 4 months ago
I usually let my hair just dry by itself and do whatever it wants, but when I want to make it stand up in spots, picture Nitsa armed with a flat iron, pommade and hairspray. ph34r.
Jºnªthªn · 19 years, 4 months ago
I guess it's low maintenance...
Kris 'engaged' Bedient · 19 years, 4 months ago
I henna regularly, and then just use a 2-in-1 and some anti-frizz stuff that makes it all untangley. If I had to, I could skip that last bit and just be prepared for major static effect.
Bender Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
I love how henna made my hair look, but I absolutely hated that sickly smell that lasted for days.
Mollie Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
I've had henna in my hair for more than 10 years...love it. It does have a bit of an aroma...I mix it with some cinnamon to kind of cut down on the odor. The smell only lasts a few days, though, while the color is fairly permanent. Nice.
Oh, and no anti-frizz products...my hair is fine and silky (but limp and thin.)
renita · 19 years, 4 months ago
if my hair is getting out of control, and i want it to look decent, i usually spray it with some leave-in conditioner (mango-scented, it has to be shaken up first, it's from germany, i'll miss it when it's gone) or this "beach-hair stuff" (smells like coconut, must be shaken up, also from germany--sigh) and try and smooth it down some, if that doesn't work... ponytail!!!

on mornings when i'm bothering, i rub a tiny amount of coconut oil into the ends, and then smooth my hands over the rest.

most of the time, it's ponytail or pigtails or just leaving it. i don't give myself time for styling in the morning.
iPauley · 19 years, 4 months ago
I didn't used to use anything but water to help keep things in place, 'til about a year or so ago... I started getting it cut shorter than I had prior to that, and as a result, some hair in the back was sticking up in a cowlick... so the stylist put some gel in it to keep it down. Now, if I'm going out, and not wearing a hat, I'll run some gel through my hair to keep it out of my eyes and stuff, especially if I haven't had it cut in a while, or just to keep it from moving and blowing about.

I keep my hair short, wash with solid lush shampoo and let it dry for itself.

I really like touching my super-fine hair and any artificial substances in it would be just 'ewwww'
