We Will Become Like Birds

Discussion: We Will Become Like Birds

You may or may not know of Erin McKeown. If not, i urge you to go, right now, and listen to her. you won't be disappointed. If so, prepare to be at least semi-excited. Especially if you've also heard of Peter Mulvey.

Insomniac that I am, I was just cruising the 'net, checking up on various things, when i decide "There probably isn't any news on erin mckeown, but i'll check anyway."

of course, i was wrong.

Her new album, "We Will Become Like Birds," is coming out June 28, which I knew, but the whole article (above) has more info. The thing that struck me most was the following:

11. delicate december [feat. peter mulvey]

so i'm thinking, "this is obviously me falling asleep at the computer." But no! it's real!

any thoughts? i'm very excited that an artist i like that is still alive and kicking is doing exciting things such as this. :D

ah, very cool. I saw her back in January at the Point and knew she had a new album coming out. I just didn't know when. I'm looking forward to it very much.

Hrmmm...considering Erin is like my age...I would sure hope that she's alive. I first saw her open for Dar Williams back in 2000.

This is not the first time that Peter and Erin have collaborated. She sings with Peter on the song "Comes Love" off of his Boston T covers CD Ten Thousand Mornings.

I saw the two singing together at the Signature Sounds 10th Anniversary show in Noho, MA, back in November.

As did I. :)

Along with peter's husband, Jeff Foucault.

you know what i mean...she's not on "hiatus." (note the quotes) :P
or really dead, for that matter.

i was thinking today, in math actually, and something came to me:
if new cd=tour, then maybe tour=first live show for caroline.

if both are true.....SCORE :D

I hated Erin the first few times I saw her. Then she grew on me and I really like her. I almost never change my mind like that. :)

I first saw Erin in January 2000 on a bill with EFO and the Kennedys. I thought she was 15 years old till she started talking about her life.

By the way, I love Erin but Peter Mulvey never leaves an impression on me.

Postal Service? i'm guessing before my time...
Josh Woodward Back · 19 years, 3 months ago
Fairly new, but vaguely obscure. Video happiness!
caroline: tired. Back · 19 years, 3 months ago
see, when i saw "postal service," i thought of some little 1980's USPS jingle or something.... :)
Josh Woodward Back · 19 years, 3 months ago

Yeah...the album came out today. I am very excited...although I still don't know when I'm getting it. (because i do not have a car, and cannot go out on a whim.)

It's on Amazon and iTunes, and iTunes has an exclusive bonus track, "A Certain Pleasure." So in addition to CD and MP3 form...it's available on - get this - *clear vinyl.* That's so damn cool. Even if records are before my time...i still think that's pretty hot. So...check it out, you people. Heck, you've told me about a bazillion people, and I now have a long list.

in addition, what i've heard of it is cool. It's not as folky, and it's not as varied as her other albums, which I kind of like, yet I kind of miss the experimentation. Just take from this rambling what you will.

i listened to the clips on itunes, and i agree that it sounds good but i miss the style experimentation of her other cds. but i'll probably pick it up over the weekend.
