True Confessions

   Discussion: True Confessions

What evil deeds have you committed in the past that you want to get off your chest? Back in 1980 I discovered in the basement of my college library a beautiful illustrated edition of James Branch Cabell's The Line of Love. I really wanted it and never saw it in a bookstore. I took it out of the library and then told them that I lost it. I paid the fine which was substantial for those days, $30, probably what it would have cost me if I had found it in a store. Still, it wasn't right.

Sadly, our government probably already knows what you won't post.

In the house or outside?
Adeeba Back · 18 years, 4 months ago

In the house. Actually there is a rather interesting story behind that, for those who care to hear it (or read it). So, back in third grade I decidedI wanted to smoke. I rolled up a paper towel and tried to light the end of it with the oven (I was under eighteen, you see). After two seconds of smoking it I realized the entire "cigarette" was flaming, and because I knew that wasn't the way cigarettes were supposed to work, I threw it into the garbage can. Being the smart third grader I was, I tried to blow on it. Then my dad came running and poured water over it (and also he kinda yelled at me too and I cried). But the garbage can, which was made of plastic, had melted by that time. May it rest in peace.

back in the days of teenage rebellion, I was quite astute at shop-lifting...until the elderly gentleman behind the counter caught me..

When I was 9 my parents wouldn't buy me a gift for a friends birthday party, so I wrapped up my sisters beloved stuffed unicorn and gave it.

It is better than wrapping your sister up and giving her to your friend.
Annika Back · 18 years, 3 months ago
I hadn't considered that as an option..
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 18 years, 3 months ago
well maybe for my birthday...
Annika Back · 18 years, 3 months ago

Oooh.. If only I'd know this 5 months ago. She's engaged now.
I'd be happy to send you a stuffed unicorn though!

When I was seven we went to a guy's house who happened to be a cop, to see about adopting their dog. I found a bullet lying around and thought it was the coolest thing ever, and stole it. My parents found it in my stuff later and were (understandably) very upset, but they never returned it or got rid of it. It's still in my dad's knicknack box.
