Christmas Music for Fruheads

   Discussion: Christmas Music for Fruheads

Since it is that time of year...I recommend "We Three Kings" by the Roches (lots of humour and inventiveness) and "Too Many Santas" by the Bobs (acapella group extraordinaire).  Manhattan Transfer has a new one out...haven't heard it yet but would blindly recommend it.  The Bobs have a "Best of / 20 songs, 20 years" which is worth hearing.

Anyone else have suggestions?

I love We Three Kings. Of course you can't beat the Batnose Festivus Series.

Yeah, some of my favorites have changed, and I know they've probably been mentioned, but I do love Christmas music so.

"Charlie Brown Christmas" -- Vince Guaraldi Trio -- Accept no substitute! An album so good, it bears repeating!

The other day, I was in Kohl's, and they were selling a for-charity version of "A Ray Charles Christmas." Not all of the tracks are great, but for 5 bucks? Worth it.

"Maybe This Christmas Too" and "Maybe This Christmas Tree" -- Not as good as the original, but some gems, like Pedro the Lion's "I Heard the Bells" and "Fairytale of New York," covered by Pilate, which is just barely a Christmas song.

Speaking of stretching it, here's some songs I include in my Christmas mixes, even though they're not technically Christmas songs:

"On To Bethlehem" -- Bill Mallonee

"Christmas Morning" -- Lyle Lovett

"Christmas Card From A Hooker in Minneapolis" -- Tom Waits

"River" -- Joni Mitchell

I love God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen by Barenaked Ladies and Sarah Machlachlan.
