Do you people ever get tired of arguing semantics and correcting people's grammar rather than addressing the point of their posts?

Should I be an obnoxious pendant and say that this topic should have been called "I wish there were a word for..?

No I won't, that would be obnoxious.

There should be a word for words there should be a word for.

The issue is not with tense, but with mood. (And, of course, "were" is not a future tense form.) Since the point is that these words don't actually exist, using the indicative mood ("was") is inappropriate - the subjunctive ("were") is required instead.

I wish there had been a word for when people misuse the subjunctive. :)

Personally, I love it. :)

Ditto.  Unless somebody's correcting me.

In Japanese, I don't think there's a word for lost. At least, when I lost my friend's ball, he said "It became nothing".

Not "Sam Lost My Ball!!!" or "IT WENT ON THE ROOF AND IT'S LOST FOREVER!!"

It became nothing.

nakunatta.

just sayin'
