I could tell this poll wasn't by a new yorker. You lumped all of the over 1 hour commutes together. Mine can take an hour and a half. I believe that Queens has the longest average commute of any county in the country. It might be the Bronx.

Is that in general, or just for those who use public transportation? just wondering.

People don't drive in NYC...there's too much traffic. :-D

I catch the train at 7:42 and arrive at my office around 8:40.

John J. Ryan · 19 years, 1 month ago
1 hour will get you about 12 blocks in NYC.

Unless I get stuck behind a school bus, because that interferes with my going 70 in a 55 zone in residential areas. Heh. I love the rural south.
Paul · 19 years, 1 month ago
Well it averages well over an hour a day but it always someplace different. My territory is all of New England, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. I am on my fifth company vehicle in 6 years.
Talcott · 19 years, 1 month ago
but it really takes me around 12.
A bit less if I'm in a hurry, and a bit more if the lovely city of Lewiston clears the snow off the streets by covering the sidewalk.

Have I mentioned what I'd give to live in a pedestrian-friendly city? ;-)
Brian Dinsky · 19 years, 1 month ago
Mine takes me around an hour, sometimes a little bit more. I do drive 35 miles, however. From the gritty city to the itty bitty suburbs.
sheryls · 19 years, 1 month ago
we live very close to downtown, it's maybe a 6 mile commute :) of course it's another 10 minute walk from my parking lot to my office...
Michael · 19 years, 1 month ago
20 minutes if I take bilanial roads. 3 Hours and 45 minutes if I take one way roads.
A girl named Becca Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
Then why would you ever take the one-way roads??
