goovie is married! Back · 20 years, 9 months ago

Phoenix · 20 years, 9 months ago
No question. Twin Peaks. And the most ear-wormy. Ever.
K-Lyn Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
Ooooh. Yes. I must go home and dig out my soundtrack. I think that is the only TV soundtrack I own.
sheryls Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
Angelo Baldiamente, the guy who did the Twin Peaks soundtrack, has an excellent album with the former lead singer of my favorite band (James), Tim Booth. The album is called Booth & the Bad Angel. it rules.
Samantha · 20 years, 9 months ago

Best: Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego... bar none.. Sean Altman and David Yazbek... MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA..yes i admit it>.< I worship Sean Altman!!honestly.. its not as bad as it sounds...MUAHAHAHAHAHA

worst? prooooooobbbbbbabllyy...... either Beverly Hills 90210.. or Growing Pains..

emilie is CRANKY · 20 years, 9 months ago

ooh. i'm going to post a few more which i think arekewl before anyone else does:

cagney and lacey
different strokes
t j hooker
the hair bear bunch
hill street blues

okay. do carry on. :)

goovie is married! Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
dwd! you know the hair bear bunch! you rock.
emilie is CRANKY Back · 20 years, 9 months ago

*raucously* HELP! HELP! here come the bears! HELP! HELP! here come the bears! HELP! HELP! here come the bears! let's split! *g*

sheryls Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
hey, they don't even bite!
ChrisChin is Getting Old · 20 years, 9 months ago

Here are a few of the ones I like the most that were not previously mentioned:

Taxi
MASH
WKRP In Cincinatti
All in the Family
The John Laroquette Show
My So-Called Life
Alias
Cheers
The Simpsons
and Law and Order

I would agree with Carey about the ABC TGIF lineup being some of the worse themes out there, but the My Two Dads one is very way up there (.oO YOU Can COUNT on ME...Oo.)

Bender · 20 years, 9 months ago

Guuuuuys.... how can you neglect Nerf Herder and their work of wonders that is the Buffy theme song? Angel's theme song is pretty cool, too...

goovie is married! Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
yes! leah is right. buffy and angel. oh, and chris is right about mscl. yay!
Nik Chaikin · 20 years, 9 months ago
I Made a Moxy Fuvous Jack o lantern! i can't create new threads for some reason so i'll put this here. pictures will be available soon.
Bruce Rose · 20 years, 9 months ago

I'm partial to these:

Cheers
The Greatest American Hero
Sidney
The Jetsons
Tour of Duty
The A Team

...and a few others that I can't really remember. And to whoever said they hated the Growing Pains theme song, I'm playing that on my radio show next week... just for you. :-)
ChrisChin is Getting Old Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
Oooh...The Greatest American Hero...that's one of the few tunes I can play half-assly on piano. .oO ..Believe it or not...I'm walking on air, Inever thought I couldfeel so free--ee--ee...Oo.
George E. Nowik Back · 20 years, 9 months ago

forgot about the a-team. good stuff there. :D

in the same vein of good stryle themes, hill street blues goes up there with cheers.

-= george =-

George E. Nowik · 20 years, 9 months ago

quantum leap. macgyver. highlander koz it was queen. barney miller and night court because they were good jazz.

greatest american hero because it made one hell of a quartet arrangement. :D

sanford & son koz it had grit.

growing pains as done by rockappella.

mr. belvedere. hah!

i love old TV themes. i used to like them more than i liked the shows more often than not. especially as a kid ...

-= george =-

beth-pseudocanuck! Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
how did i not know growing pains was rockappella? dayum. must. find. recording.

tnx :)

and to add to the list, BOSTON COMMON!!!! it was this great bluegrassy theme. looooved it! :)
goovie is married! Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
erm...i don't think it was, but i'm guessing that they've performed it in the past.

how about dvn's version of "i dream of jeannie"? :)
Andrea Krause Back · 20 years, 9 months ago

I know there were two growing pains themes. Same song, different singers. In the later years it was an a cappella one. Perhaps that's the confusion...maybe the later one WAS Rockapella but the earlier one was not.

Samantha Back · 20 years, 9 months ago

Rockapella never did the Growing Pains theme... its someone else who put Rockapella's name on their stuff to get it downloaded.. ^_^

No one sings a high tenor like C. Scott Leonard IV...(the fourth)

Leonard... .C. Scott... Leonard..... The Fourth......... i'm gonna need some backup here..

dont worry if that didnt make any sense.. only someone who's heard Pella do The Hollie's "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress" live.. would know where that came from. ^_^ MUAHAHAAHAHA

yes... i'm obsessed... not quite as obsessed as i am with Sean Lennon... but still obsessed...

Bruce Rose Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
I forgot about the two themes... the original was performed by Steven Dorff and friends. And that's the one I'm playing next week. :-)
Shelly · 20 years, 9 months ago

i have been earwormed with the theme from 'the munsters' ever since regis and kelly used it for a halloween segment the other day.

other earwormy ones/great ones/ones that stick in my head:

~sanford and son

~the muppets{duh!}

~the dukes of hazzard

~three's company

~fat albert and the cosby kids

~the warner brothers theme song

~the flintstones

~green acres

~my three sons

~petticoat junction

~the patty duke show

~leave it to beaver

~the facts of life

~diff'rent strokes

~family ties{gotta love johnny mathis!!}

and of COURSE

~the smurfs

yes, i know i am showing my age but pffffffffffffffffffffffffffffft!!!

and now i am earwormed with the 'diff'rent strokes' theme...........................

It's a girl! Back · 20 years, 9 months ago

The Patty Duke Show has the most earwormable theme song ever. I will now be singing oO But Patty's only seen the sights a girl can see from Brooklyn Heights Oo for like the next week.

Thanks!

Will work for anime · 20 years, 9 months ago

some that are probably obscure (and not)...but great if you can find them

"That's Living Alright" from Auf Wiedersehen Pet...great gem of a BBC show

Reading Rainbow

old Sesame Street

The Office (another obscure BBC...but more current)

Royal Family ...sung by Oasis

emilie is CRANKY Back · 20 years, 9 months ago

the office is OBSCURE??!

oh dear. you north americans lead sheltered lives.

*ducks* ;D

Will work for anime Back · 20 years, 9 months ago

i didn't think that many people knew about it. I guess it's only recently started on BBC amercia (i don't know for sure...we don't get it). Richard brough the first season on video with him when he moved here last year...and he just bought it on DVD few weeks back.

I like the show...but only in small doses....i guess it just reminds me too much of where i work. David Brent is definatly like my boss (scary as that may seem) and Gareth is a mirror image (looks and personality wise) of a former employee. Tim is the best imo.

Gordondon son of Ethelred · 20 years, 9 months ago
Bad sixties shows had the best themesongs

Gilligan's Island
Beverly Hillbillies
Green Acres

ChrisChin is Getting Old Back · 20 years, 9 months ago

ack...I can't believe I didn't mention The Brady Bunch! Granted, it is late-60s. It's just one of those very sing-a-longabletheme songs(and one of those annoyingones thatstays earwormed forever).

Ooh..also Max Headroom, Sledgehammer, Mad About You, and Thirtysomethinghad prettydecent theme songs.

goovie is married! Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
yes! and sesame street.
jen · 20 years, 9 months ago

i LOVE the diff'rent strokes theme song. i have two cds of tv theme songs and i love it. but diffrent strokes is up there with the top five favs.

jen

emilie is CRANKY Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
word. that theme tune is liek my second favourite theme tune ever.
Gordondon son of Ethelred · 20 years, 9 months ago
I'm surprised no one mentioned Black Adder yet.
goovie is married! Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
which version? wasn't it different every season to match the time period?

i know the ending theme of "black adder 3" was probably one of the most annoying ever.

while we're on the subject, tho, the vicar of dibley theme is beautiful.
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
Wasn't it always the same music with different words?
goovie is married! Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
no.
It's a girl! Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
Do you happen to know where one can obtain a recording of that lovely VoD theme song? And by the way, where do you film? Can I be an extra? :p
goovie is married! Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
*dies laughing*

dude, did you know people are still visiting that site and signing that bloody guestbook? wtf?
It's a girl! Back · 20 years, 9 months ago

*goes to check* most recent visitor was on 10/29/03. *blink* this scares me.

goovie is married! Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
i knoooooow. if you google "vicar of dibley," we're, like, the #2 result.
Gordondon son of Ethelred · 20 years, 9 months ago
As an instrumental I doubt there is anything as instantly recognizable as the Twighlight Zone.
Bruce Rose Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
I think 'Jaws' might be more recognizable, but we're talking TV, not movies.
nate... Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
And X-files!
That's pretty darned instantly recognizable too.
Bruce Rose · 20 years, 9 months ago

I saw 'Family Ties' listed, and started racking my brain for other 80's themes. 'Silver Spoons' and 'Charles In Charge' were pretty good from that time frame.

And thanks, ChrisChin, for mentioning Sledge Hammer. I thought I was the only one who remembered the show (although, I forgot the theme until I saw your post).

George E. Nowik Back · 20 years, 9 months ago

buck rogers in the 25th century.

valerie and valerie's family. i still remember the themes, too. annoyingly catchy. (:

perfect strangers. now that i think about it, itwas a rather inspirational theme song...

head of the class. just way cool.

who's the boss was cheesy but memorable.

and now i can't get silver spoons out of my head ... sigh.

"bedebedebedebedebede. right away, buck."

Animaniacs!

-Lisa (with baloney in my slacks)

Bruce Rose Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
Indeed! If there's a TV show that really needs to be released on DVD, this is the one. Even if they broke it into like segments (Pinky & The Brain, Slappy Squirrel, etc.), I'd buy it on release day.
Will work for anime · 20 years, 9 months ago

BJ and the Bear

Air Wolf

two of my favorite shows (and catchy themes) when i was a kid

Phoenix · 20 years, 9 months ago
As it wasn't mentioned before: Providence
Gordondon son of Ethelred · 20 years, 9 months ago
How could I forget Johnny Rivers surf classic "Secret Agent Man?"
Adam Hartfield · 20 years, 9 months ago

Bewitched

The Jeffersons

Northern Exposure (even though I generally hate the harmonica)

The Price Is Right

Talcott Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
There is nothing as disorienting as the prime-time Price Is Right episodes. It's just wrong to hear that theme any time other than 11am.
(which is a sign of how good a theme it is)
Gordondon son of Ethelred · 20 years, 9 months ago
Not that Hugo Montenegro's piece is a classic but it is covered by DVN so that puts it on the list.

Now will someone please tell me why Hugo Montenegro's name has stuck in my head my entire life?
emilie is CRANKY Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
i forgot about the bewitched theme tune!! *dance* sorry. i always associate bewitched with i dream of jeannie because they used to put them on back-to-back on channel 4 in the afternoons. :)
Bruce Rose · 20 years, 9 months ago

Thinking of instantly recognizable instrumentals, no one does it like the Ventures.

Gordondon son of Ethelred · 20 years, 9 months ago
My computer plays the Doctor Who theme when it shut's down.
ChrisChin is Getting Old Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
ooh..definitely an awesome theme and one of the most memorable for me growing up watching public television on Friday nights! Which version doesyour computerplay?
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
I"m not sure, it doesn't play the whole thing but I think the early 4th doctor era version.
emilie is CRANKY · 20 years, 9 months ago

what about the flintstones? and the jetsons? :)

and homer simpson's version of the flintstones?

o/' simpson, homer simpson... o/' *g*
