The 8th Moxy Fruvous album...

Discussion: The 8th Moxy Fruvous album...

People were once listing Fruvous's next tour in this forum, so I thought I'd take it one step further.

Imagine YOU'RE the band. Hypothetically, what songs should make up the next Moxy Fruvous album? You should use songs from the solo projects of Jian, Mike, and Dave, or perhaps you want to stick a cover in there? Generally their best solo tunes that would also come across well with the full band. Maybe even listing instrumentation on each song. (Who plays what, who sings what?) Also, think up an albumtitle and perhaps cover artwork. Get creative!

Astronaut
Louis Riel
Fussy Baby
FOLLOW THE ROAD
Huge On The Luge
Baby Don't Lie
Cedartown
The Night The Stars Shone On Toronto
Old Love
Early Morning Rain
I've Been Everywhere

These are some I'd include... I've tried to order them in a balanced way, but I'd want to include more. I don't remember enough of Mike's songs. I would de-solo-ize everything, probably folk up Astronaut. Backing vocals are very important.

Kitchener to Guelph

I've been everywhere (I haven't heard Mike's, so I'm thinking of Dave's here)
Follow the Road
Drive too much
Grudge
Homeward Bound
Cedartown
Brainard (think of the full band doing the opening)
Astronaut
Fibber
Hay (music-wise, this isn't always my favorite, but think of it as being mostly a capella with the full group)

if the album is called kitchener to guelph, they have to cover my "berlin to kitchener", or... how else would they have gotten to kitchener? the concept has to flow, man. or something. :P

As far as I can determine, at least Mike has a little affiliance to the German language. Beside the albums in the forum, there is something to think about...

what about songs like:

Sauflied (Drinking song)
King of Germany
Faule Sau (Lazy boy)
Schrderman... (anyone got more ideas?)

OK, MF is not a German band, but what if they had at least one German song per album? That makes at least 4 new albums... and I hope there will be more! I Cant't wait!

Well they have enough oomlats to be German! ;)

Hmmmm. . . Fruvous album #8, titled Eight is NOT Enough

Brainard (word to full band opening)

Father

You Remind Me (with ahhs and harmony)

Astronaut, with Danny Levin on strings

Cedartown (with Susan Werner guest singing)

America's National Game

Enormous Penis (changing the words a bit, maybe instead of saying "my" they could say their names ;)

And So It Goes (because there needs to be a recording of them doing this)

Big Black King of Spain

And that song they sang about Philly at the Folk Fest 99 that I can't remember!!

Yeah my list is not that exciting--I don't know many other songs by them that aren't on their albums. I would also be much for Stuart Davis guest-singing on some song. Maybe Independence Day--a punk rock version!!

A Fruvousized "The Night the Stars Shone on Toronto" would be incredible! Also - "Tank" has *got* to be on the album. *nods*
