I've been listenening to nothing but Pete Best since the hiatus started.
John J. Ryan Back · 21 years, 8 months ago
I surprised you haven't lost all sense of rhythm listening to him....
I can see the bunny · 21 years, 8 months ago
'Cause ya know there might be someone on here who hasn't heard me talk about him yet. ;-)
Josh Woodward Back · 21 years, 8 months ago
Oh, so it was you who started my nasty habit! I couldn't remember who it was. I've had Industrial Lullaby stuck on repeat for a good long while. Good stuff.

Woohoo! I've got Josh hooked! :)
Gordondon son of Ethelred · 21 years, 8 months ago
I voted for other because it's been a bit mix. I've seen the Kennedys, who are folk pop more than anyone and DVN, A Capella the next most. GBS, Celtic-rock is third. I'd see Richard Thompson, a singer-songwriter, the king of British Folk-rock the most if he played more often. Then there's Christine Lavin who I've seen about as much as DVN and GBS, she's funny folk.

If I had to pick a catagory I'd pick neuromusic. It might not be what I've seen the most but Carey and I made up the name :-)
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 21 years, 8 months ago
I forgot TMBG, put them into the mix too.
emilie is CRANKY Back · 21 years, 8 months ago
me too! all of the above! :) yaaaaaaay DVN! and the arrogant worms! and the beatles! and barenakedness! and, er, motown! :)
goovie is married! Back · 21 years, 8 months ago
"neuromusic"? don't you mean, "music to slit your wrists to"? :)
emilie is CRANKY Back · 21 years, 8 months ago
does that mean bands like radiohead? :D if i have to listen to them once more i think i will commit suicide in the most gruesome and hideous manner :D (sorry radiohead fans, i'm just not a huge fan of depressing music, due to the simple fact that it, uh, depresses me :D)
zil · 21 years, 8 months ago
its funny, but i looked at all the options and was like, "I have no flippin Idea" I mean of all the catagories people try to put me in... random people who don't know me... family.... friends... co-workers (damn their hides)... doctors... I susually try not to catagorize my likes and such. I just like it or i don't. I've already wasted too much thought on this....

*disclaimer: if this comes off as something other then an idle ramble you've given it too much thought too. also I'm having a bit of a crazy beotch in the hizzouse moment so disreguard anything I say. adue.

I need a hug, zil.

all of the above. no question. I've listened to all most all of the examples specifically listed in the past two years, even.
Mollie Back · 21 years, 8 months ago
yup.
John J. Ryan Back · 21 years, 8 months ago
I have been listening to all of the above even while Fruvous was touring, but now even more so since people have been introducing me more to other acts. So I couldn't vote on just one since I like various entries in various genres.
Bruce Rose · 21 years, 8 months ago
I've also hit almost every listed example. I'll say that it's been a lot of geek rock, after my first TMBG show and rediscovering Weezer... a lot of (both) pop-rocks (although I find that hard to say, considering the artists we're discussing)... and a lot of singer-songwriter.

There's been a lot of crybaby rock as well, since a friend turned me toward Dashboard Confessional. I don't know how he's managed 2 LP's and 2 EP's off of the same 16 songs, but that man's still got a decent set of pipes.

Linkin Park, Hoobastank, Incubus, Default, Staind, SR-71, Trust Company, Unwritten Law, New Found Glory, The Hives... basically, whatever's on the radio.

Josh Woodward Back · 21 years, 8 months ago
I must truly be out of touch. The only one of those that I know is The Hives, who I like. I haven't heard of most of the others, except Linkin Park who I remember had a song that has very cool production. Kind of a dark, slow, sparse intense tune.

I just feel bad enough that I've been earwormed with Vanessa Carlton's "1000 Miles" for days. Ugh, I wish I didn't like that song.
sheryls Back · 21 years, 8 months ago
*sigh* i know all of them. those days when i forget my CD case it's 89X all the way to work.

and the Linkin Park song you might be thinking of is My December - kind of sounds like a cure/depeche mode-y tune.
sheryls Back · 21 years, 8 months ago
oops, let's try 89X :)

this is me. so y'all know that i'm almost always on a steady diet of a cappella and vocal music.

except this week where "justified" and "stripped" are my music of choice.
Kevin - King of WiFi Back · 21 years, 8 months ago
the rammstein song?
goovie is married! · 21 years, 8 months ago
It's all the stuff I've been listening to since before the hiatus -- since before I knew about Fruvous, even -- so it's not surprising I'm still listening to folk or a cappella or geek music. DVN have been my Fruvous substitute, live-show-wise, anyway (I've now seen them, like, 3 times as many times as I've seen Fruvous). Lately in the CD player it's been lots of Ben Folds, the Mammals, the Prodigals, and the Buffy soundtrack.
Shelly Back · 21 years, 8 months ago
yah....an 'all of the above' would fit me as well.........except i felt i had to select option #2 coz it mentioned efo, who i have, of course, seen/listened to during the hiatus *grin*

but...yah....same goes for dvn, so they're acapulco{acappella}dave and tracy, the kennedys, peter mulvey, ellis paul, erin mc keown, susan werner, the arrogant worms,{ all or most of whom, i guess be in the same category as efo}, but i've also been hitting the springsteen of late, listening to the dusty shoes{yay frulie!!!!!} and the bruce james orchestra{yay tree hugger!!!!} as far as CDs go, so there you got your blues and jazz.

well, and, of course, there's the musical theatre thing. coz every now and then you just hafta pop in one of those CDs in the player and belt along. theatre geeks, REPRESENT!!!!! ;)

and then, of course there's the barbershop CDs..........

but if we were being -way- technical, i've been listening to and seeing efo most since the hiatus schmiatus.

if you couldn't tell from my icon. [| ;^ ) >
danced with Lazlo · 21 years, 8 months ago
yeah, all of the above, plus trance and tabla. More recently though I've been listening to nothing but the noises in my head and my internal narrative.
nate... · 21 years, 8 months ago
I mean.... it was the only one that really worked.

I mostly listen to local bands.... Henning's School for the Dead, The Maggies, Philip Price, fountains of wayne.... michael merenda.... etc.

That's probably 70% of my listening... then beyond that is peter mulvey, tom waits, tmbg, guster.... etc...

So yeah... I guess something else works.
:)
sheryls Back · 21 years, 8 months ago
*sigh* i so wish FoW was a local band for me! ilove them!!

i've been on a HUGE Spiritualized kick lately (Let it Come Down)- along with The Yellow Monkey (3 albums, a gift from Mariko, but specifically "Smile"), Mike Doughty (live in mnpls)..

The obnoxiously addicting happy-j-pop of Vib Ribbon (specifically the song "overflowing emotions")...and as usual, Guster, and *james*, and whatever else i feel like pulling out of my cd book in the car or while cleaning or while at work :)
Jºnªthªn · 21 years, 8 months ago
I've been listening exclusively to Harvey Kubernick's Attention Getting Device... OK, I haven't. But Fruvous was always just part of a long playlist. I've been listening to a lot of White Stripes lately, and I generally listen to Punk-influenced stuff, which was not a choice.
· 21 years, 8 months ago
I can't believe you left out the worms...
gack! heh!
:D

I clicked on "other" since I'm really into the new Bonnie Raitt, Mark Knopfler, Robben Ford, and ...yeas, I'll admit...
Keith Urban! (ducks)
he's got a hidden track that's a one chord song..It's REALLY funny.
